Mid draft next year for Sourdough could be the most ambiguous thing I’ve seen written.. draft might be 55 (27) players or 75 (37), recent history suggest somewhere in the middle but then he goes on to suggest a going rate of pick 40-50 🤷🏼‍♂️

What does it mean when it says “Macrae and his management are prepared to drive a hard bargain on a trade….”?
Same b/s , the guy has totally lost faith in the management of the team - coaches etc and just wants out - Beverage wouldn't care if he left so keeping a player who wants out and saying they are going to drive a hard bargain is a joke.
They keep him at the club next year his value will be nothing.
We let Dunstan who was still polling Brownlow votes walk for nothing and even Jack Stevens go for crackers because he just wanted out.

Sometimes you just have to take a loss and his next 2 seasons on 800k wouldn't be a loss in the Dogs eyes.

We will get him but I would wait for the last minute of the trade period before committing to him - they would be sweating.

We gave them Bruce at bargain basement price and Coffield for basically nothing so I wouldn't be taking any crap from them.

St Kilda is unwilling to part with its No. 43 draft pick for Jackson Macrae, hopeful of securing the triple All Australian with a back-end pick.

They will offer a third or fourth-round pick for Macrae, the player of the 2021 finals series.

They will likely offer a mid-draft future pick for Ivan Soldo, and could end up trading their future second pick with the Power’s future third pick.

The Power paid the world for Soldo when he left Richmond.

But the trade value of mid-tier rucks is usually about pick 40-50 and he is due around $500,000 for each of the next two seasons, so they would let him go given Dante Visentini is a solid back-up.

The Power will secure Gold Coast’s Jack Lukosius on a deal rival contender Adelaide believes is seven years at $1 million a season.

Confused here.
Isn’t 43 a third round pick?

Anyway, glad we’re not going to be pushovers on either deal hopefully.

Salary dump , was a very good player but now looking how they have treated him he has past his used by date.
Will be a throw away pick.
I agree. But look at the 2 lines I posted in bold…

First it’s says they are unwilling to give up pick 43.
A few sentences later they’ll offer round 3 or 4? Well isn’t that pick 43?

Still reckon there will be some big trades sprung - Petracca has let it known he wants out and his management would be looking at anyway to get him out of Melbourne , Oliver is the other any of these guys could be on the move.
So fully expect teams looking to off load players to secure the draft picks to bring in the players they want.
If I were St Kilda I would not commit to anything until late in the trade period to see who gets shaken lose.

Unfortunately if we cough up a later future pick we can’t use our future first. Do we have some kind of trade capital - pushing someone out? Is there any chance Membrey can still get us the lowest FA compo - is it end 2nd or end 3rd?
I believe you can apply for AFL exception based on the number of first rounders you have had.

See Port Adelaide last 2 years.

Exactly 43 is a 3rd.

Another shit article
I don’t have the picks infront of me. But you would imagine on draft night 43 comes in to a late second or close to

It is. This is all made up bullshit anyway. That pick 43 will likely drop to late 30s by the time the time all the academy stuff is over with and considering the depth of this draft there will be some quality players available at that pick for sure. Dogs will take that and be very happy they can front load contracts next year as Darcy/Ugle Hagen etc.. are going to be demanding big bucks very soon.

If we are looking for a 2nd ruck surely they can find someone better.
Fremantle are stacked with young rucks - and have 2 with no contract (Knobel , Jones) and Reidy has a yr left.
Exactly. Reidy and Knobel at Freo, Bryant and Vigo V. at Dons, Moyle at Suns are 5 juniors I'd enquire about. State league otherwise

So no way will we give that up for McRae. Or at all, it appears.
Need to hold our line like we did with Crouch.
Take it or leave it.

By my quick look. P39 is the start of the third round.

So not far off a second at all.

I’d be more than happy for us to flog off a future first for another pick in this years first round

A. I’d back us to finish higher than we did this year
B. If we snagged 3 first rounders , a second rounder and change in this draft I’d say we are ready to hit free agency next year

Draft hard this year .. attack free agency hard next year

No-one will swap a first from this year with a first from next year, without something to sweeten the deal ( for them ).
Only case would be to offload a first when they have an early academy pick.

Suns @ 12 or Giants @ 14 are the ones we are looking at.

Really love this idea and hope we’re putting it in motion.

Our F1 is probably ‘perceived’ as 4-10. I’d be happy trading it to GWS for their P15 this year. Backing us to bounce with a tap ruckman and someone who can exit stoppage cleanly, will make a massive difference stopping bleeding and ability to set up the ground not to mention quick decent entries.

GC probably dealing with Carlton who want Houston so think we’re more of a shot at GWS pick.

GWS will have a Vic country lad lined up and probably still get him at 20 (B2-Perryman) so would think they would be agreeable given they could think they’re getting a top 5 pick next year.

Could be an amazing off season;

1. J. Macrae (Trade)
2. I. Soldo (Trade)
3. S. Lalor (7)
4. M. Reid/S. Draper (8)
5. C. Hynes (15)
6. O. Hannerford (25)
7. Slider/Trade/Points (43)
8. Cole (R)
9. Hofmann (R)
10. Peckett (R)

Maybe we wouldn’t draft 5 mids and there are some great KPP about too for one of our picks but really can’t go wrong having more picks inside 20

Richmond are going to end up with a bunch of top 20 picks. They might be willing to push one (mid teens) into next year for our first.

No-one gambles on future picks "perceived value" they treat it like its a late first.

Said it before but really hope we keep the F1. We already have 7 and probably 8. Let's not be greedy. It's an even draft, not a strong one. This year's Langford Lalor Smillie Reid Trainor quickly become Ludowkye Greeves Rodriguez Hibbins-Hargreaves etc etc. Look at phantoms this time last year, things can change quite a bit. Plus if Callaghan nominates us we need something to get a deal done. Better off trying to turn 8 into multiple earlyish picks
