agree but luko already two years older so should be better than he has been by now

still i wanted him and sure he will kill us when he plays us even if never any other time

Luko supported Port as a Kid, his best mate in Rozee, he was never heading to Adelaide

Can he be a good player for port - yes, do I think he will get to his draft ranking elite player potential - no

There it is..i said this from day dot that they were pushing him out to get back into the draft at the pointy end this year. Its what they do.
Port didn't want to lose Houston though, it was just the only option they had with any currency after expressing a desire to leave. They also clearly thought it would net them more than pick 13 and Atkins haah

Yep but I also remember people being indifferent about Rankine coming too

If Luko was coming off his 2023 season it would be a different story after kicking 39 goals and a few decent hauls

With Dixon gone , Finlayson struggling and Marshall concussion issues they could do with him and he might just need to be backed in and be home

Richards was competing with Shultz and Bobby Hill

Ports small forwards are really poor outside Rioli , I think he’s chosen a weaker team for more opportunities
Are they though?
Anastopolous and Charleston both showed enough to suggest they had AFL potential but have been given zero opportunities. Playing in a totally uncompetitive Powa SANFL team all year is like being sent to purgatory for small forwards.

Might be good but unproven , not established like Hill , Shultz McCeery etc so makes sense for Richards to come to more opportunities

If Richards is fit he will almost definitely play round 1

There's still some time left for them to work some other deals. They might be able to on-trade 13 and Atkins for a pick in the 20's :p

Is he confusing the psd with the nd?
No, PSD is correct.

Given the picks we have left, there is no chance that Peatling would still be available by the time we wanted to select him if he nominated for the ND. There's not a snowball's chance in He'll that he doesn't get picked up before pick 64.

The option being discussed is getting Peatling to delist himself from GWS, and nominate for the PSD (bypassing the ND). Adelaide have pick 4 in the PSD, and would only need to worry about being gazumped by Norf, Richmond, and West Coast. Even so, that's still a significant risk.

The fact the crows are so desperate to keep a second rounder for next year says they are still potentially looking to trade their first rounder for a pick this year I reckon they are still trying to pull Dodson if he is still around at end of first round
It says no such thing.

How do they get proven if they're not given opportunities? Powa' s development from within is ratshit in recent times.

Yep that’s why I feel they have recruited guys for sanfl like Jez McLennan and made such a kerfuffle of the sanfl rules as they want to be able to make their sanfl strong to give their kids more of a chance to perform

Surely that’s what Atkins is about or maybe they see him as the new Simon Tregenza 😆

Of course he could casually let it slip his GF will be locating to Adelaide and he plans to be with her so will need to be travelling there weekly to see her but if that is a problem, maybe tbose 3 clubs might decide to pass on picking him😉

It makes sense.

It's why we hang onto certain blokes on our list a little too long, which may change with the change in SANFL rules.

Having the kids fend for themselves at SANFL level doesn't help development much

Definitely

It’s never really admitted in media but there is definitely some strategy to try and keep reserves team competitive for all clubs

Harder in sanfl historically due to the rules ( and blatant cheating umpires ) hence port and crows have wanted to jump ship

Luko was a Crows supporter as a kid, his dad is the Port fan, but as you said, he was never heading to Adelaide.

Can't find it, but there was an old interview before he was drafted, where he said he was a mad Crows fan and his dad used to lock him out of the house because of it. Obviously things changed.
