That's incredible business considering Smillie was a top 10 picks in pretty much everyone's mock draft. Basically 2 top 10 picks for Rioli and a F2.
Smillie was #1 or 2 for half a year until it became unpopular to like him.

I agree. If we pull this off, others will surely follow. It's a copycat league.
moreover a copy RFC league..Sheedy @ the bummers copied Hafey in a sense,to his credit he Sheedy did revolutionize the swingman,no no hang on a minnie, Hafes was doin that with Barry Richardson 10 years b4 Sheeds, then of course
Pagan n his so called 'Paddock' which had been invented 25 yrs earlier by Tommy & his 'just get it farken down there n kick it to Royce' motto n of course all the Dimma rip offs post 2020....alas one more, the Roach/Cloke double whammy of the late 70's early 80's with seagull KB deliciously cleaning anything an everything up that fell to the ground n the catylist for Clarksons Franklin/Roughead/Rioli set up

often copied,never beaten

Whitlock is part of the cost side of the equation though. Well, Whitlock or 23.

Originally, Rioli = 6 & 23
Then 23 & F2 = Norf's F1

The total cost of acquiring Smillie & Norf's F1 was Rioli, 23 & F2
But we gained 23 on opposite side to Rioli & then spent it. Should be on both sides of equation.

Rioli for 6 & 23
F2 & 23 for F1

Rioli & F2 for 6 & F1

But we gained 23 on opposite side to Rioli & then spent it. Should be on both sides of equation.

Rioli for 6 & 23
F2 & 23 for F1

Rioli & F2 for 6 & F1
That's the whole point, "we spent it"

Just because we gained 23 it doesn't cancel out the fact that it was used in the trade for F1.

The trade for F1 was 23 + F2 for F1, say we gained that F2 from a previous trade, does that cancel it out in the cost of getting that F1? No, of course it doesn't, because that logic would have us acquiring F1 for nothing.

The last few days I’ll be doing something and then just start giggling to myself like a 10 year old kid as I think about the draft outcomes for Essendon, Collingwood, Norf and pretty much every other club (but especially those three). It brings me constant joy every couple of hours, I hope it never ever stops!

But in terms of what we got for Rioli we got 6 & 23 and converted 23 into something else. All we did was change the value of 23. The F2 wasn't gained in the Rioli trade so has to be added into the outgoing.

watching all the club videos of the draftees and i do have to say i got a little bit emotional watching these kids most of them are mates and played together you can already see a bond and we will not have any go home factors or will they be enticed by other clubs to leave
we have drafted very smartly i believe this will make our rebuild go faster and exciting

100% this would have been a consideration when putting draftees side by side. A lot of melts about Allen. He had strong go home factor so we went for the local. Having a group of guys that are already mates is huge for culture

We are definitely prioritising good kids and team players which is good. That’s how our precious success was built and we are trying it again

Yeh was noticeable all drafted are good kids, love a tackle, have some mongrel and high upside (but come with risk).

We've got so much flexibility moving forward now to draft just the really top rated mids/outside players now the spine is hopefully there.

Really liked that we only have potentially pick 1 and another top 5 pick next year - it's reportedly shallow draft and full of academy players + whatever FA (and fingers crossed more end of 1st round compo for finishing with less than 4 wins). If we want to trade back in then we can use futures again which are heavily diluted with Tassie.

do we have any academy kids or f and s next year?

I want armstrong to be our FF for the next 15 years. has a massive campaigner and flog factor

imagine oppos in a Richmond dynasty window if this punchable head starts clunking and kicking bags , fmd the melts will be HUGE

Guys, I'm picturing it, 5 years from now The Blair Hartley 8 have all won their first premiership together. The draft photo is contrasted with the same 8 boys, now men, holding their Premiership Medals (Lalor Norm Smith). We will look back and say that all coming is as a group created the strongest bond and willingness to do what it takes to win a flag.

Yes, we absolutely did convert 23 to something else and isn't it glorious?

Tell me though, if we hadn't have traded 23 as part of the exchange for F1 would we have used it? Obviously, yes. So it was collateral in the trade. It was an asset that we had but we now don't.

Therefore, it has to be factored into the cost of purchasing F1

Liken it to buying a house. We sold our house (Rioli) and got a great deal where we purchased 2 more from the proceeds (6 & 23) A fantastic deal however has presented itself for not much cost and a 10 month settlement (Norf's F1) We want this house but want to keep the best one from our original sale (pick 6)

To fund the new house purchase (F1) we have to sell one of the houses we got in the original sale (23) as well as taking out a loan (F2)

Just because we got the 2nd house (23) in the original sale it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist as being part of the cost of buying the bargain (F1)

Either way we made out like bandits.
