So we got a mid/forward in Lombard, a key back in Cooper Bell, a tall ruck in Max Knobel, a medium sized utility in Asher Eastham, and a local product (I think pressure forward?) in Gulbin.

Add Noble and Rioli to lock in the halfbacks immediately.

Not bad list coverage there.

So with (apparently) one spot left, and Ace invited to train, I wonder who else we have our sights on. Hopefully a good user on a wing or a true small forward type (rather than Ace). That would complete our list coverage for an off-season.

Down the road Southport have Pescud , Woodcock, Gore and Lowson there now (obviously going for that elusive flag) . One of those would be an upgrade, sure they can keep Oea on as a vfl player and png development officer.

IMO, hardly upgrade. There is reason why no team touched them. Keep spot open for MSD if needed.

Surely this guy is worth a train on spot at least. Would put the pressure on Rosas if nothing else
Wow I remember this guy. He seems to have all the traits but I've only seen him in passing in one of our VFL games.

For the guys who know, what's the deal with him? If we're killing it by the MSD period we'd be mad not to give this type of player a whirl for finals.

Matt Rowell will hold off contract talks until early next season amid intense Victorian interest as he assesses Gold Coast’s improvement after another second-half fadeout.

Gold Coast is supremely confident Rowell believes he is part of their long-term future but he is in no hurry to re-sign entering his sixth season at the club yet to play finals.

He would transform the midfield of a variety of clubs including Collingwood in coming years but has never shown an inclination to properly test the market given his loyalty to the Suns.

This time he will get through the pre-season and potentially the early rounds of the season before considering a new deal after three huge seasons for the Suns.
He could sign a two-year deal to free agency in 2027 or a long-term deal like his great mate and former junior teammate Noah Anderson did early last year.

We’ve all read this book before. Hope there is a twist this time…

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rowell go in all honesty. Really hope he stays but I'm not confident in this one.
Unlikely imo. The Suns will easily match any deal from another club with the cap going up. And what club can offer enough to get a trade done? He'll sign a 2 year extension to get to free agency.

Smart of him to wait until we get through pre-season to see if Gold Coast’s late season fades are behind us. :drunk: The smartest move for him is the 2-year deal taking him to Tassie’s arrival.

Hopefully turfing Lukosius move hasn’t thrown a cat amongst the pigeons in that group though.

Doubt it. Rowell comes across as a quirky pragmatist. If he leaves its cos we've failed to progress and he wants to win.

Bravo for having the balls to take Knobel, wish we did. Rucked very well in the league and WAFL ressies here, especially for a skinny kid. He’s going to be a weapon once he puts weight on. Will love Cavill Ave.
Great to hear but honestly when will interstate people realise literally no one except 18yos and literal human potatoes go clubbing in Surfers any more?

You'll find most of the shenanigans happening in Burleigh, Nobby Beach and Broady/Cas when it comes to guys like this, on this end of the coast. It's such an outdated fallacy of the GC.

That said, is he a lad?
