My understanding and what I was told is;

  • We really like Trainor, but don't need him to play immediately which gives us time to let him work through his concussion problems.
  • Behaviourally, there is some risk, but its a high risk high reward
  • There was an expectation he would slide heavily even as far as the 3rd round but Sydney is looking likely to take the risk as well so the club will need to (or will likely need to) get in before them.

This is very much a SO IM TOLD
Well if he’s still available at 57 maybe we can take him

I wish we did get another player in the 1st rd and traded a future 1st for it. Would've been nice to get Berry or Armstrong ( slid down heaps). But now I'd rather keep them now then do what Nth did Wow!!

Problem is that the draft is deep. Not sure how good it is overall compared to other drafts with a couple of stand-outs, but just seems pretty solid. Clubs didn’t seem like they wanted to trade… took a future first from North just to get the last pick of the round.

Maybe North must want to take the two brothers, and got in with this pick to get the first one and will take the other with their early second round pick.

You could be right. The draft could be deep and North got a great player. But how do we know next years draft isn't going to be deep. Alot of players could hit their peaks next year and then it's the same as this year.

I just hope we don't trade a F1 for any picks now since I'd rather use them next year for academy players or players slide down the order

North's f1 was on the table all the way through the first round and wasn't accepted until the final pick. Any of our f1sts weren't going to cut it. Sounds as though we still may look to get back in though, not sure which player we would be looking at.
