Here's a ridiculous trade idea for certain lurkers

Saints: Clark + Long + Hill + R2 2022 + R2 2023

North: R1 2022 + R1 2023
If that deal was reversed.

Would you be happy with our club doing that trade?

It’s effectively pick 1 this year and a top 5 pick in 2023.

Big no no for me - imagine the melts on here about having Pick 26 from the 2019 AND 2020 drafts on our lists and neither of them having played a game.

How about Jackson Callow - seems about the calibre of players we get linked to at this time of the year.
I like callow.

If Hill, Long and Clark are all enticed to nominate NM, with their current trade capital being P1, P50-something and an assumed P19 coming as compo- how could they achieve anything without involving this year's or 2023's 1RP?

Not saying I'd do this necessarily, but would this do it?

Out: Clark, Hill +$300K x2, Long, F2RP
In: P1, F2RP.

I'm not overly interested in Thomas, I don't think we have the standards to turn his attitude around.

Yeah, they missed the finals with a team full of first round picks....got beaten by us as well, the team with the s**t coach and worse game plan...

Yeah, worked a treat

Yeah, I'm not sure about that..

2021 Carlton finished 13th - 2021 St Kilda finished 10th

2022 Carlton finished 9th - 2022 St Kilda finished 10th

Their trajectory is upwards, we however have completely stagnated. They are holding onto their team of first round picks while we are about to lose quality players from our squad.

The magical gameplan that saw them out of the finals? Change of voice worked a miracle as well.

Round 11 - Carlton were 5th - St Kilda were 4th

Round 23 - Carlton had dropped 4 places to 9th.... We had dropped 6 places to 10th.

If you want to look at gameplans and voices you might want to look to see who crashed the furthest.

I wouldn't pick someone younger just because they are younger. Pick the best option to fill the need regardless of age.
I think you can find a balance between someone that can fill a hole and then also has potential to grow into a quality defender.

A young defender that may be slightly off what a 30 year old offers could be a best 22 player in 2 years.

what are we going to do about leadership and development. Trading the rumored blokes out doesn't amount to a loss of leadership in any sense, but nor does bringing in talented young players fix that issue. I fear that without addressing standards and leadership, the kids we pick will not reach potential anyway.

If Clark does end up going to north that means either they will split pick one or they are getting a priority pick. Minimum top ten pick for Clark
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but they said on the radio this morning that Hunter had toured the Roos facilities last night. Plus two other players, one from Collingwood.

Hunter and Jordie

Luke Jackson. Can go any club

North paid Hawthorn handsomely for Hay and Thompson, two players who the Hawks knew had issues.

Perhaps we know Hunter's head's about to fall off and we need to cash in before it becomes common knowledge (or in fact falls off)

Don't know how reliable this fella is...

He doesn't seem super reliable, he's reported that Tarryn Thomas had requested a trade 2 weeks ago and nothing has been mentioned in the media about it.
Only seems to get the easy things right like Rankine

Also apparently reported that Zurhaar to Essendon was a done deal, and then deleted the tweet after he resigned with North. Nothing reliable about this bloke.

You might end up being the only one.
Yeah I know, I just think he’s a full forward and hawthorn had him backed up behind a couple of bigger guys in Lewis and kosi. He’s 195 cm and looked looked a class above and an absolute beast in the sanfl. He’s only 20 I’d be happy to rookie him, I didn’t see any of his 3 games with the hawks so have no idea how they used him. Looks like they swung him around in the vfl.

Sounds like Coops brother or Flamingos sister
The fact is Ben is out of contract and is probably getting some juicy offers. Looks gone.
Juicy offers for one good game in how many years , buy Ben

If he goes and is paid 600k plus do we get compo or even un contracted to north or gc have to still give us a pick directly given he’s younger than 26 or however it works ?

What would we likely get compared to what we should get ?

Is that how it is measured? Not because we had the 5th hardest draw or anything. How about head? How was their great gameplan v our crap one in that game. Led them every quarter.
Yup they are so much better than us.
