Another example of a complete over reaction by a few. And will happen all season. We lose a game, lipinski sucks, ginni sucks, gameplan sucks. It’s kind of embarrassing tbh. We are going to lose MANY more games, and the kids including ginni will have many POOR games. That’s what happens during a rebuild
Do you ever remember an umpire telling Selwood (any member of the entire family, including Mrs Selwood) to stop throwing the head back? There needs to be a change, we need to get rid of ducking.
I think Ginivan has huge potential, I love how he gets under the skin and accept that he does duck and that’s modern footy.
But we need to move the game away from this trend of ducking and playing for free kicks
It’s something I can’t stand about Selwood. He is a serial ducker and it’s so incredibly frustrating. He is a champion that’s not disputable and could have been a champion without all the duckingDo you ever remember an umpire telling Selwood (any member of the entire family, including Mrs Selwood) to stop throwing the head back?
Selwood, (not saying he is complaining either) has benefited from the high tackle rule more than any player. Ever.
I hate it too. Does my head in, but "playing for frees" is part of the modern game. It’s something I can’t stand about Selwood. He is a serial ducker and it’s so incredibly frustrating. He is a champion that’s not disputable and could have been a champion without all the ducking
I was taught to line up the hips and grab them around the waist. You have never been taught to tackle around the hips
Started out in football over 20 years ago and have never been coached to tackle lowI was taught to line up the hips and grab them around the waist.
I'm a bit older. There was no aiming for the arms. It was all torso.Started out in football over 20 years ago and have never been coached to tackle low

I love watching the supposed villains of the AFL. From Libba snr to Ballantine to Mitch Robinson, Selwood and Toby Greene. I did hate Bewick though, so maybe.
Watch the hips, tackle the hips.I'm a bit older. There was no aiming for the arms. It was all torso.
This is how I was taught as well, and I think it still holds merit as the hips don't shift direction when players shimmy. But there has been a greater emphasis on pinning the arms over last 15 years as players have got better at releasing a handball whilst being tackled, or team-mates have been better at supporting.I was taught to line up the hips and grab them around the waist.
They want to make sure they pin the arms, because players have gotten much better at hand allying whilst tackled. The tackler is also yryi g to keep his feet and not just put themselves out of the follow up contest we used to when we went to ground tackling lower.Watch the hips, tackle the hips.
About as a basic as you can get.
Apart from one coach who decide it would be a great tactic to dive on the ball in every contest to effect a ball up, only hours before the AFL rule against diving on the ball was set in stone, I cannot think of a a less useful tactic than tacking the upper body?
Maybe they can share one and do some joint footage hehWith all his extra cash he should send Kane a Go pro lol.
Mason Cox's tackles are all high. He can't help it - it goes with being 211cm tall.It won't change. It's not just about free kicks. With tackles going higher than they used to in an attempt to pin the arms, it's easier to get low and push the tackle up to break it or get your arms free than to stand upright and push the tackle down.
