I reckon Bytel looked alright.

Unfortunately he doesn't display any strengths. He's not an inside mid, not explosive, poor decision maker and disposal.

Seems like a good runner but you need a burst of speed and to be able to hit targets to play the wing

Yep he seems to be one of those guys you pick if you have to, and you just hope not to notice him while he negates an opponent through hard running. If the ball never goes near him, so much the better.

Yes this is true for a lot of fringe players. Once there are too many of them at once there's a big problem.

Well he's 24 years old, if he hasn't gotten over his nerves now I'd hate to see him in a grand final

If we get a couple back then he might be in trouble. I'm not sure the alternatives are any better

I watched bytel closely the other night
He needs to get a bit more urgency about him and just back himself in,see ball get ball attitude, hopefully he can lift.

I used to watch Michael Bevan being the coolest calmest batsman in the world as he finished one day games and then get picked for tests and nervously poke at and nick everything.

I thought he was more of an inside player but he has been out on a wing a lot.

I suppose being in the system for 5 now 6 years, I expected more?

This isn't just based on AFL games with us but in the VFL too.

Too soft at St.kilda and hasn't done anything to rectify it. Smooth mover but just doesn't like hard ball gets

He brings Sidebottom like endurance with a big body and okay skills. He can be a good tackling inside mid but we have chosen to play him outside. He hasnt shown much at AFL for us but I think the club likes his work ethic.

Agree. But his skills were always okay at the Saints. He looks nervous to me, a bit like Markov early last year. At the same time I think he is a likely delist. At least one of Long or Bytel should be delisted.

We just selected Long He hasn't even exited the rehab group yet.
