I’m not sure how Frampton getting into the GF side off the back of McStay’s injure provides your point? Here it is:

This isn't the win you think it is jmac. We're talking about this season, in 2025. Suggesting Frampton might not be the answer right now doesn't take away his premiership. Stop being myopic. Here it is:

I’m not sure where you’re at with it, but I don’t see them as significant changes. I think we need to find a way to have Hill and McReery doing what McDonald and Moore or Rankine and Keyes do for Hawthorn and Adelaide. The feast or famine in their game when they are so important for our speed of play is hard to reconcile. My gut feeling is that Pendles will retire, and he and Mitchell are the two I think most likely to get a nudge.
And yeah a lot to play out before they have to make any decisions - if we get smashed in running as the year plays out - we'll have to make changes.

I think we've got an awesome team for playing the way we want to play.I’m not sure where you’re at with it, but I don’t see them as significant changes. You then find a solid KPD, maybe McGuane on a flank and Allan kicks on then all of a sudden we look very different very quickly.
At their best they’ll be Richmond with the best midfield in the league… Don’t get me wrong Richmond’s mid group was always good, but this current GC mix is something else.I think we've got an awesome team for playing the way we want to play.
But the tigers style of loading up extra pressure and runners around the ball has been dominant for a while. It'll get surpassed at some stage. Hawks might do it this year with their ability to spread the field. Or alternatively even if it still prevails, the extra pace of GWS may mean they play the style better. If that happens in both cases it'll need us to move on and shift the team composition towards pace. No idea about Adelaide and GC yet - how good they'll be or what they're doing. I haven't watched either of them.
I thought Frampton was fantastic in our last VFL gameMcRae said this about Frampton yesterday,
“Billy Frampton’s in great form and great spirits,” McRae said.
“He’s definitely had a great pre-season and he’s been walking around with his hand up all week.”
Not much scepticism there.
I’ve highlighted the key issue. If you thought last week was impressive you should see his SANFL form of 2022!I thought Frampton was fantastic in our last VFL game
I didn’t even read your posts, ScoI’ve highlighted the key issue. If you thought last week was impressive you should see his SANFL form of 2022!
The biggest issue for Frampton is that he’s never been able to translate it to senior level on a consistent basis and it’s why Reef was preferred. He could well go to Curnow tonight and do a similar job to Battle, but then Amartey kicks 6 on him next week. It’s how you get 11 seasons into a career with 58 matches to your name…
Isn't this a discussion about replacing Markov, who hasn't broken into the team for ages?
Not necessarily true. If it’s a 5 year deal on coin similar to Perryman there’s no reason for them not to give band 1.Will not get a first rounder. 29yo
It wasn’t my posts you should have read then…I didn’t even read your posts, Sco
I’m well aware of his limitations
I thought he played well last VFL game and deserved his call up
I just want to win this week, will worry about other games the.
Age is supposed to be one of the secret herbs and spices. Not necessarily true. If it’s a 5 year deal on coin similar to Perryman there’s no reason for them not to give band 1.
Only one of them though. A long term deal on heavy coin is hard to argue with even for a 29 year old.Age is supposed to be one of the secret herbs and spices.
I can’t see Pendles hanging up the boots while playing so well.I think most of them would need to be pushed to leave. Pendles and Cox are the two most likely to actually retire, but Pendles might want that games record and I think they'll try to persuade Cox to go around again. He's good depth ruck and forward and we'd need to replace him for that as unlikely that Smit or Steene are ready by then and tbh I doubt they'll both be still on the list.
No idea who might get pushed - none of them really look past it - but there's a lot to play out - if we get really exposed for pace through the midfield they'll need to make some changes and serious injury could see the end for any of them.
There are a few younger ones who will need to shine to keep their spots:
Smit or Steene - I doubt both survive
AJ
Dean
Macrae
Markov
Sullivan
So there might not be a need to push blokes - unless we recruit a fair few.
I'd suggest the longer Cox is out of the side, he'll see his time is done. Would he stay to be depth? May depend on the development of Steene and Smit.I can’t see Pendles hanging up the boots while playing so well.
Being a big basketball fan he’d be looking at LeBron still going around at 40, plus our admin has the ‘no upper limits’ policy for age, so no one will try to push him out while he’s clearly best 22.
Will be a really interesting watch as to just how long he can go on for.
Equally with Cox as long as he’s serviceable on field and good depth no real to push him into retirement. As you say, plenty of fat to trim elsewhere on the list.
too late. Thats passed, so he'll have to stay and keep making dees better.Looks like someone who wishes they were at the pies
That explains exactly why he looks so pissed, frustrated & dejected.too late. Thats passed, so he'll have to stay and keep making dees better.
I'd say he is just frustrated that the dees aren't where he wants them to be. Reminds me of cripps over the years. If you arent frustrated, then it doesn't mean much to you to make your team better. That explains exactly why he looks so pissed, frustrated & dejected.
Kidding yourself if you think Petracca and Oliver not getting traded last year doesn't mean they won't agitate again to leave. At a certain point it's in the best interests of both club and player to move on if the relationship with the player has irreparably broken down.too late. Thats passed, so he'll have to stay and keep making dees better.
maybe they'll try to move elsewhere though I think its very hard to judge from the outside whats going on behind closed doors -- they seem to be fixing their culture. Just havent gotten the wins yet, but for us.. its not possible.Kidding yourself if you think Petracca and Oliver not getting traded last year doesn't mean they won't agitate again to leave.
