On Pou Trav Wilson and Tauru

Anyone who thinks Trav will be a ‘solid 150 game player) really doesn’t understand player development.

Travis weapons imo will make him an exceptional impactful player.

His marking running and competitiveness. These are things you can develop. Midfield craft and instincts can be developed the others not so much. In addition, in finals and big games they become more important. No doubt in my mind he will become a top 5 player for us.

Wilson - sane as above but we already know. Played a bad game last and still kicked a goal and had 20. Still want to see him on the rock but think he will be at Max Holmes’s level if not better.

How good is his goalkicking ability.

Tauru. I still think he would be an elite KPF but happy to let the club decide. Very simmilar tracking to Aaron Naughton in his 18th year. Just has something about him that makes footy look easy.

Pou - the big one
We saw his last month. It took hard work. We know the stats. Like Wilson and Trav I tend to think there is an invisible barrier of 30 disposals, once a player gets that it seems to break the seal. He almost got there a couple times.

His tackling and his marking became a weapon and his decision making not only improved but became an asset for his creativity. Lastly he started kicking goals as well. An absolute ripper against the crows and should have kicked three against the blues.

So excited to see where Pou can go.

Ultimately as I said in a prior thread.

The players we have who imo can genuinely be top 50 , top 20 and top 10 players

Top 10
Pou
King
Naz

Top 20
Taru
Wilson

Top 50
Owens
Keeler
Lance

My point is the potential and shown performance e of something of the guys already is awesome.

The rest is up to them and intangibles of competitiveness and inherent athleticism which all those guys have.

If Tauru ends up been an absolute plodder who's scared of contact like Naughton ill be absolutely gutted.

Carlton supporters are at the 5 stage of grief about TDK, acceptance.

The autopsy thread last week was fun, this week it is just sad. I love Carlton losing, but I am familiar with their despair at a perpetually failing football club.

Carlton since 1995 remind me a lot of St.kilda in the 20 years prior to 1995. Some big stars of the game playing for them, but just a poorly run club, bad decisions and lots of plodders. They are really wasting this generation of having some really really good players.

So he got a infection inside his knee from a blister? Sounds like absolute bullshit.
This sort of thing does happen quite a lot. The bacteria get into the bloodstream via an infection and they travel often to a distant site. I have seen it happen several times and often the distant site is a joint (shoulder or hip), so a knee doesn't surprise me at all.

I'm still quite baffled by our monster offer to TDK. At the end of the day, both he and Marshall play their best footy as the number one ruck. Ro can be handy drifting forward at times but doesn't look particularly dangerous as a permanent forward, and TDK has never kicked 10 goals in a season. I'd much rather we present the godfather offer to LDU or another gun mid.

If we don't lose any required players and recruit TDK, this is how I imagine our preferred team would look like in 2026

B: Webster, Howard, Wilkie
HB: Nas, Caminiti, Sinclair
C: Hill, Steele, Wilson
HF: Owens, Marshall, Wood
F: Higgins, King, Hall/Collard/Butler

Foll: TDK, MCcray, Phillipou
Int: Garcia, Travaglia, Windhager, Sharman

Something like that might work, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the net result of having both of them in the team isn't substantially better than just having one.

IMO, it’s about the team result rather than the individual performance.

I’d wager we stand taller and play better as a side with two genuine rucks. Marshall is excellent and more than adequate, but getting TDK as well? It becomes a point of strength. Shame we couldn’t snatch Xerri for a 3rd rounder.

We look vulnerable to teams when Marshall is resting. Can’t have that come the big time games, every moment matters.

Just wanted to get in early and say that Alix Tauru “The Flying Viking” is going to be a super star and a massive cult hero.

Couldn't be happier we drafted this guy. Looking forward to his VFL debut this week.

Whatever happens don’t fall into having empathy for Carlton. Long may they suffer.

If there's top players available, go get them. TDK is a top player and will improve further.

Sam Walsh with 31 disposals tonight. 20 uncontested possessions...3 score involvements

We have much better players to discuss in this thread. Let the boos keep him on 900k+ per year😂

He's a good player but too much of what we have already.

Mate Pelican and Baines or whoever was running the joint back then would have been sacked before the draft was over if they picked a skinny kid from WA over Billings

Billings turned out to be a spud but there was 0 doubt he was a top 3 junior and I think Melbourne who traded out of pick 2 would have picked him over Josh Kelly.

Everyone knew Cripps was good but his pace marked him down. There weren't too many successful KP sized mids around then too.

I hate that I'm feeling compassion for them.

Zero damage. It's crazy to watch how much injuries have cruelled him, genuinely looks like a plodder at the moment. Disposal has never been great but it's atrocious now. Blues have an interesting decision to make if this isn't just him getting into the swing of things post injury.

You need to go to the doctors and get checked out. Or a jab or something.

I’d be really concerned on the prognosis if you are genuinely feeling compassion for that footy club and its fans.

They quit pretty quickly during the mid-2000s. Hasn't been the Carlton of my youth for a very long time. Glimpses occasionally.

No compassion, just a detached concern, a bit like the Simpson's laughing at Homer trying to look at the back of his head, only to lapse into worrying sighs as he continues to try.
