Not really. Centre clearances were okay. We may have won them actually. It was the second possession that was the real problem, and that’s on the wings and flankers.

It's also on Nank.

Marshall gave up the hitout to block Nank competing to lock the ball up. Nank essentially taps it to his feet. Saints mids rished forwatd into the hole that Marshall created by boxing Nank out of the contest and got the easy clearance with a clearing handball. Happened time and time again.

Nank really needs to just start smashing the ball clear at times when we are getting thumped in the middle.

More disappointed in some of our senior group namely Hopper & Short
Unfortunately we're on an awkward position that I'd rather burn their bodies at this stage of the kids careers.
Think Trainor needs to be moved out of defence until his body can take it or a rest in the 2s

Short into the middle or up forward, Smith to get a few games to show his wares.

I totally understand why people think KMac shouldn't be dropped, but to me, you need to weigh the pros and cons.

I don't think playing KMac as a midfielder for his effort should be prioritised over playing someone else who can genuinely make a difference given the same opportunities out of the middle.

But then the inverse is he is the only one you can routinely count on to bust a gut to chase, pressure, provide an outlet option, go forward etc.

I'd be dropping any other mid before Macca. Purely from a standards and workrate perspective. Macca rarely outright loses a 1:1 contest.

Out: Dow, Green, Bauer, Mansell (shoulder has looked stuffed 2 weeks now)

In: McAuliffe, Alger, Faull, Banks

Make Ross sub, rotate Blight up forward and chop nank out in ruck, and put Mcauliffe in the guts and give sonsie plenty of midfield time also (if he fails then he's just keeping seat warm for Smillie)

Fmd shorts garbage hack kicking is getting worse. Taranto and Hopper one has to be traded out eoy as both are just gonna steal valuable midfield opportunities and we could easily have Sharpe, Rodriguez/Hernandez,/ Gonzalez?? and Kellaway in this year's draft. Fmd today was painful to watch

Fair comment.

Because our outside players don’t have much of a physical presence!yet, if Nank knocks it straight down it effectively becomes three against five or six. Those are shithouse odds.

Also. GET LALOR INTO THE GUTS.

The only player who consistently hit a target forward of cebter all night.
Had 9 centre bounce attendances, it’s probably right for his age and experience at AFL level

he did play in the middle for a bit, still learning his craft.

He did in the third quarter but it was evident at the ground he was cleaner than any other player we had disposal wise. We want him running with the ball towards goal, not running towards the ball away from it.

Out:

Sonsie, Dow, Bauer, Green,

In:

McAuliffe, Koschitzke, Gray, Alger.

Blight forward, Kozzie and Gray defenders.
Play the future and take the spankings that come with it. But also play them in their right positions.

Blights a backman so don’t do what we did with Balta and stuff him around by getting him to play different potions early on.

Dow was ok today. If he’s out, then that’s the call on him. 20 possessions wasn’t a bad game. Sonsie needs a continual run. Green was also ok. Needs time.

Why do we watch Sonsie get 35 with 20 contested and 10 clearances in the VFL, then promote him and not give him a single CBA, whilst McIntosh has 9 and TT and Hopper have 51 combined. What’s the friggin point?

Give Sonsie a chance in his best position where he has proven he’s above the level at VFL.

And coaching was sh*te today. Sinclair and NWM have 69 touches with just 8 contested. WTF not put Macca in Sinclair’s back pocket for the day? And put Mansell in NWM’s back pocket. They are their two best players who provide all their drive and we left them unopposed all day.

Sonsie dominates VFL as a legit midfielder yet never gets a chance to play there in the seniors.

Give him a ****in chance at least.
How many games has he played? We still don't know if he can be an AFL mid.

That is a disgrace and the coaching staff need to help accountable. Give him 4 weeks, what's the harm?

Sonsie. Dow. Never again.
Can we give somebody, anybody, apart from Taranto Hopper and McIntosh a go in the centre. Sonsie and McAuliff need to be given a chance to play midfield because that’s their natural position. We need to give Banks, Smith and Green a go as well. These kids spend most of their time chasing their opponents into our defence because our midfield might get first use out of the centre but the ball seems to immediately end up in our defence. No offence to Taranto, Hopper and McIntosh individually but can we try some different combinations because what we are doing isn’t working.

Sonsie has had more than enough time. Hard to justify continually giving him.a run when McAuliffe, Smith and Banks haven't been afforded the same opportunities at AFL level.

I agree. Green is quick and was midfielder for Peel and WA. Get him in the guts. Hard as a cats head, tackles and has pace.

I would say TT has showed that he can do all of those things ever since he came to the club, and that Hopper was the only one last week doing those things (based on various comments from social media; mixed opinions of him so far today), so it's not like we don't have those qualities if KMac goes out of the midfield.

KMac no doubt brings effort to whatever role he's given, but if you were to ask me what I would rate higher: team balance or effort from one player, I would choose team balance every single time.
