It’s only been 2 games but anyone that McIntosh has tagged or played on has had 30 possessions. Can we find the StKilda player that turns the ball over the most and get McIntosh to tag him.
We don't need to tag any of the saints mids, they aren't fast. If Taranto, Ross and Hopper can't go toe to toe with McRae, Steele and co, then what is the point of having them there. It is on transition and on the outside that we will need to stop them. They have some quick, good running young players. We need to match that. Mac was oaky on the wing last week so probably holds his spot until some pressure for that spot comes on, which it will soon.

I hate to say it, but what we are seeing is why we should not have resigned Macca.

I just knew he’d take twenty games off the kids. What for?

Sonsie is into his fourth season and still has barely had an opportunity to play midfield. And we are blooding a thirty year old in there when wins this season are secondary to development.

Chuck Sonsie in the guts against the Saints. Give him a full game in there. In fact tell him he’s got four weeks at AFL level in the guts to show what he can bring. Lalor had sixteen CBA’s on the weekend which is great. I’d like Sonsie to be given similar exposure.

What on earth do we have to lose - it won’t be any worse than the first half on the weekend? Give him a chance - he might actually surprise us.

He just needs 6 games in a row

It would sew up the #1 pick

I think that’s the brilliant part about having TT, Hopper and Kmac/Dow in midfield, it’s perfect for tanking.

It also lets us develop our defensive resilience as the ball keeps getting pumped in, and because the ball struggles to get forward the young forwards learn to make the most of their limited opportunities.

When we finally fix our midfield over next few offseason our defenders and forwards will be ready.

For mine, I would love to see the following

McIntosh to the wing: This covers banks for the concussion.

The wing rotations to be McIntosh, Dow and Trez. I think that having Dow as a winger is really helping him and us when there is a stoppage on the wing. He is more of a midfielder and he is able to help with the contested work around that contest. We will lose a little on a winger that is able to run the length of the ground quickly but that is the trade off.

Lalor and Tarranto to rotate between Mid and half forward. Try and make it so they can get around 40 to 50% game time around the ball and rest either on the bench.

Sonsie and McAuliffe to be given a full midfield game. They deserve proper midfield minutes. People will say Sonsie didn't tackle or apply pressure but he is not that inside mid, he should be the one on the outside to distribute the ball effectively. McAuliffe just looks like he deserves a full game in the midfield.

Fawcett to play again. Has mongrel and physicality on the field. Bauer has had a few contests against Port where there were stutter steps and no physical presence. Don't like that.

Green to be told he needs to have a 2 tackle a game minimum. Small forward that doesn't apply pressure or help with transition is as useful as herpies.

Alger in for Mansell. IF Mansell is injured.

You're highlighting his worst attribute in foot skills by putting him on the half back line and forcing him to pin point passes. Taranto should be playing forward with a bit of a midfield. That's where he played his best football at GWS.

Good around goals, good mark, size and good set shot. Also would allow Kane in and Lalor more mid time.

If he's forward you then have to remove Bauer and have no option of a 3rd tall. Our midfield is still way too slow even without Taranto, so we need to play 3 small forwards at all times.

If Taranto, Hopper, Ross, McIntosh or whoever lose their spot in the middle, they need to be dropped not moved elsewhere.

I'm happy with dropping McIntosh but people on here seem to love him because he wears a headband and is bald

In the quarter and a half McIntosh was on Cripps he got most of his first half 19 possessions. The coaches then moved him onto the wing and put Dow into the middle. Unless our tactic was to exhaust Cripps by giving him heaps of possessions then I think the McIntosh tag failed

He hardly went to Cripps. Cripps also got heaps of touches from being a ruck. 1 st quarter he had 4 alone from grabbing it at stoppage against Bauer.

Simple fact was when did play on him, he stopped him coming straight out the front of the stoppage as usual. He had to throw a handball off to Walsh who couldn’t get any space either.

His run with role was very effective at limiting Cripps’ impact not necessarily his touches.
