As a staunch hater of the Richmond gameplan, I feel equal parts vindicated and sick.

I cannot watch us press up, try to loop the handball over 400 times, and hope that we spring one of our (All Australian ffs) key forwards out the back with their hand in the air behind everyone.

It was unwatchable when Richmond were talented, it’s not getting any better with this list.

Harley in the forward pocket and Cripps on the wing, that’ll win over the locals Mini.

Positives:
  • Ginbey poised for a huge year. Really good.

Negatives:
  • Can’t think of any sorry.

Anyone associated with the club has blood on their hands for killing this once great club.

Sweep a rug through it. From the doorman and everyone. Happy clapping seals who clapped their hands have blood on their hands as well.

The recruiters and anyone who has involvement need to be black listed. To sign off the recruitment and trade moves in 2024 has set up back forever. If you were a bystander you are also to blame

We are so ****ed it's not even funny. Believe me I'm not annoyed or angry I could see this a miles away. Tasmania draft has killed us

----
We draft players that are second the ball but show their tackling and aggression.

Even though they should have been first to the ball. It all makes sense now.

How has Tasmania done anything to us?

Negatives - will get covered in a lot of detail on here am sure so won't go overboard but -

Midfield the obvious one. Absolutely shocking around the clearances - yeah Yeo will help but we desperately need a proper ball winner in there - a Neale, Anderson, balanced 30-touch two-way runner. I'm not even sure it's Warner, we have a few burst mids - we just need weight of numbers. We don't have a single mid, including Yeo, who can regularly be expected to have 30 touches playing in the middle like Anderson, Rowell, Flanders when playing, Miller if he had a full game on-ball etc.

Forwards weren't necessarily inefficient but Cripps, Owies, Long, Brockman all struggled to really get involved up the ground or help the midfield out the way their forwards did. Don't think both Cripps and Owies would be playing at the same time ideally.

As Bailey's sponsor this is probably biased but I think until Flynn builds match confidence in his body he really doesn't compete at the clearance post-tap enough IMO. Battled hard all day but I feel if we were going to get killed in the hitouts either way, BBBW actually competes quite well at ground level, wins some scrappy clearances and ground balls with followup which could help cover our deficiencies in there - would prefer him in against good clearance midfield setups like GC.

Positives (gotta try and find some!)

Baker was good - in fact our smalls in the backline battled well all day and transitioned as well as could be expected - Cole, Ginbey, Hough all as good as could be expected. Hunt probably the only one who was really disappointing.

Graham did what we brought him in for offensively in a grunt sense, though didn't manage to clamp down on anyone in particular or free up Kelly/Reid. Mixed bag but cracked in.

Our wings were actually not bad considering the centre mids capitulation - Dewar and Hutch both looked good and will build from here - transitioned despite no options at all and think will be keepers in the side this year.

Had some decent offensive passages where it looked like we were trying stuff we haven't in previous years.

Some ok stuff to find in a truly horrible performance funnily enough - last few years we'd be 1/10 in every area of the ground. Today we were 4 or 5/10 in a few areas, just -20/10 in the clearances/midfield contest.

Ryan Maric should be starting, he's our Birchall/Scrimshaw and can be a real point of difference with some experience.
Might be due to fresher legs on Round 1, but he showed a bit after coming on for sure.

Push Dewar up the ground and play Maric HBF.

My father often summarised big losses as they were too big too fast and too good. Fits today - they worked a lot harder as well.

This shines a light on our list and historic drafting - nothing new here. A few green shoots though, a new coach and game plan so nowhere to hide.

Negative: Stood up for an old fella on the train and he told me that the good karma from that would mean we win today.

Lying ****ing dog campaigner.

Oh will give it a few weeks to totally melt. Eagles didn't have anyone missing much apart from Simpson and GC had Flanders missing. Simpson is permanently done.

It looked alright at times early on and we had a few nice transition moves late when the pressure was off so there’s something to work with if we can fix everything else.

Winning the ball and ball handling is still a huge issue. Also a lot of times players weren’t on the same page which will hopefully be cleaned up the more we play.

Rough start and tough to bounce back from as the players could just get stuck in the same losing rut but this was always going to happen early on. I’ll be worried if it looks the same in the second half of the year

Didn't Pyke sign off on the trades?
