Day 10 was probably the first disappointing day for Australia of these Olympics. Heartbreaking losses for the Hockeyroos and Matildas, thankfully the day ended on a high with the Opals finally clicking into gear to clinch a QF birth. Some exhilarating scenes on the track today by Hassan, and the top women survived the 200m and 400m hurdles to set up huge finals. The track cycling got underway, but as expected the Aussies didn’t fare too well. Day 11 is huge.

Highlights include:

* Men’s volleyball QF’s (in order Canada vs ROC, Japan vs Brazil, Italy vs Argentina, France vs Poland)
* Women’s 400m heats (Miller-Uibo, Felix, McPherson)
* Women’s long jump final
* Men’s 200m heats and SF (Noah Lyles, de Grasse, Bednarek and 17 y/o “next Bolt” Erriyon Knighton)
* Men’s 400m hurdles final (Warholm VS Benjamin, oh boy)
* Cycling women’s team pursuit finals
* Cycling men’s team sprint finals
* Hockey SF Kookaburras vs Germany for a spot in the gold medal match
* Men’s 110m hurdles heats (Holloway, Schubenkov, Ortega, Izumiya)
* Men’s pole vault final (DUPLLLLANTIS)
* Women’s water polo QF Australia vs ROC
* Men’s basketball QF Boomers vs Argentina
* Women’s 800m final
* Women’s 200m final
* Beach volleyball women’s QF: Australia vs Canada

Our Equestrian Three-Day Eventing team take silver while living legend Andrew Hoy adds an individual bronze to his medal horde from 8 Olympics..

Matt Belcher and Will Ryan closing in on 470 sailing gold.

Gold Coast CG pole vault champion Kurtis Marschall exceeds expectations and is now a distinct Olympic medal chance.

Can African refugee Peter Bol be our first 800m gold medalist since Ralph Doubell.. 50 years ago.

Not a huge soccer officionado.. but super Sam Kerr scored a fair goal for the Matildas. She was clearly behind their defenders so why did the ref not award it. What is point in having VAR if it is not used when it needs to be.

What courage by our cyclist Alex Porter after his nasty spill in the teams pursuit. Lucky he was last in the pack at time as may have been even nastier as it'd been difficult for his team mates to avoid hitting him if he'd have been first or even second rider.

Men's lightweight boxing QF. Harry Garside demolished the #2 ranked fighter in Rd of 16, so he has a fighting chance. 5.35pm (Perth time).

Men's 1500m heats. One of our chances for an athletics medal. Starts at 8.05am (Perth time). We have someone in each heat.

Looking forward to the kayaks K-1 1000m SF to see if Thomas Green can finish top 4 and qualify for the Final starting soon 11am EST. The other Aussie van der Westhuyzen wont qualify. Australia has a 30 odd year history of getting guys into the final of this event, considered the main event in the kayaks.

Then 2 pairs in the women's in the K-2 500m SF with the best chance being Wood and Bull.

Beauty Tom Green thru to the K-1 1000m final. Going back to and including LA in 1984 an Aussie has made the final in every Olympics except for 1 I think. Grant Davies silver in Seoul, Clint Robinson gold in Barcelona and bronze in Atlanta, Nathan Bagley a 4th in Athens, Ken Wallace bronze in Beijing and Murray Stewart 8th in London and 4th in Rio is a great tradition in kakay sprint's blue riband event.

Final is in 2 hours time.

From what I saw, Green is an outside chance for bronze, but I feel he might end up 4th/5th. Pretty young, so maybe Paris/LA will be his time.

The girls look a genuine chance, but could say the same for a bunch of others. Looks very tight.

Belurusian athlete Krystsina Tsimanouskaya has been offered a humanitarian visa from the Polish embassy in Tokyo after almost being forced to board a plane for the totalitarian state. The current standoff evidently began after Tsimanouskaya criticized how officials were managing her team - setting off a massive backlash in state-run media back home, where authorities relentlessly crack down on government critics.
The Belarusian Sport Solidarity Foundation, an activist group that is helping the runner, then purchased Krystina a plane ticket to Warsaw for August 4.

Good for you Krystina. Hope your family doesn't cop a backlash from that evil Lukashenko and his Stasi like secret police over this incident.

Great C-2 1000m final, nothing in it for last 300m between Cuba and world camps China, Cubans just got there by a metre in the end and Germans came from nowhere to almost pinch the silver.

K-1 1000M with Tom Green coming up in 20 minutes after a B final.

7 showing the K-1 1000m SF on main channel, hope they show the Final which starts in 10 minutes strat after that.
Weird that Stratton is “live” in the long jump final at the moment but instead 7 have swapped to replays of something else. Kind of gives it away that she didn’t do much with her last jump haha
