That is absolutely insane! Hitting the top of the fence first to turn the car vertically may have saved some lives. Otherwise, it was heading straight like a missile into that viewing tower.

Edit: I can't stop watching this. Atleast the marshal on the ground who looked closest to the impact seemed to be ok, he was still able to wave the red flag. God knows what carnage happened inside that tower though.

Good to hear she'll live. The speed at which she hits the steel structure as she comes to a complete stop is phenomenal. Cant imagine what her family was feeling initially after watching the impact. If there was ever a crash that youd consider retiring from racing that is it.

That appears like a slowish corner yet most reports are stating she was going over 250kmph. Need to see footage before corner to have greater understanding of what happened.

"Florsch hit the back of Jehan Daruvala's car on the high-speed run to Lisboa on lap four and then launched over the inside kerb into the car of Sho Tsuboi.

The speed-trap figure before the braking area showed that she was travelling at 171.6 mph [276.2 kph] at the time.

The impact with Tsuboi lifted her car over the barrier and into an area occupied by marshals and photographers."

Video of that would be pretty crazy too if anyone finds any

This type of thing happens at almost every desert race in Mexico.
Those people are seriously lucky to be alive.

It almost looks fake, she was going that fast compared to everyone else.

holy s**t

A hard crash happened for the Filip Declercq in his formula Renault 2.0 car on the second day of the DNRT Super Race Weekend. Afer his car flipped over, it caugth fire while still upside down. He was trapped in his car while it was buring for about 2 minutes. After which the fire was put out. In the mean time the Westfield cup drivers decided it was a good idea to ignore the double waved yellow and just continue racing.
Filip Declercq suffered some serious burns but is currently in stable condition luckily. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he can race again soon.

Update: Filip is released from the hospital and doing well

How the hell are the rescuers supposed to feel safe to do their job?
Every single driver who went past that car at more than 60kph should have their licence suspended and be issued with a show cause notice that the suspension should not be permanent.
They need to show what their thought process was when entering a double yellow zone.
