If Powelly, don’t get a side together, where does this leave the league ?

I’ve heard rumours that they should “have numbers” next week. You cannot pick and choose when you play….

Sad for Alexandra if Powelly don’t get a side together, as they have a massive function tomorrow, this fairytale surely is over
Either they won't travel just to get a couple of hundred point thrashing or they are trying to get the club to fold before clearances close so they can break contract. Be interesting couple of weeks either way.

Interesting decision to not travel because of a possible thrashing. Didn’t seem to stop clubs like Broadford last year, playing against fully loaded sides like Powelly etc.
Good on them for fronting up.

Interesting couple days coming up.

How have they gone from 44 players two weeks in a row to not being able to get 22?

How many players are actually required to field a team?

14 at the very minimum (and hope for no injuries or else it gets abandoned when one player comes off).

Unless the numbers were diabolical, they could have tried to muster up 22 for the seniors and can the ressies.
Nasty things these 'travel bugs', just as bad as a 24-hour flu.

Bloody shame if so! There are probably a few different things in the mix - do you load up seniors with reserves and risk injuries to more players against a very strong team? Especially as it seems their reserves are made up of players that have or possibly want to retire, kids that haven't played since u14's, along with your usual ressies who don't train.
I have heard they have quite a few injuries. True? Don't know, but surely the scoreline wouldn't be a consideration - it seems all they care about is keeping the club alive at this point.

Only 2 years ago Powelly beat Broadford 228-23 but Broadford fronted up for the whole season
Feel for the committee of Alexandra who have gone to great lengths for ANZAC day round and they get told a few days before that both teams from Powelly teams are giving walkovers

This is the issue.
Is anyone shocked this has happened?
Very few clubs would survive with 26 players leaving in one hit.
Not interested as to why they left couldn’t care.
Fact is you can’t survive for an extended run of games.

We lost 40 Players last season at Violet Town. Had to forfeit one game in the reserves as just didn't have the numbers that week last year but most weeks we got through with 6 needing to double up. Sometimes you just got to make it happen.

Great effort do you have juniors?

That's what good clubs do that have a good culture, weak s**t clubs don't care about the effects on other clubs when they decide it's to far and to hard
