Not to brag or anything but the fourth gig I ever played live was with X on a bill with the Powder Monkeys and the Sunset Strip. Ian Rilen asked if he could borrow my speaker box so that he could set up a monstrous rig with twin cabinets. It sounded unbelievable. I was pretty chuffed.

Speaking of which:

Powder Monkeys (on their night they were the best band in the world in the early to mid 90s IMHO)

Sunset Strip

Something I've been thinking about is creating a playlist on YouTube full of songs mentioned in this thread.

Also, why is this thread so slow when I go to open it?

No YouTube links but:

Lee Oskar - San Francisco Bay.
Fats Waller - Spring Cleaning.
The Apples In Stereo - Energy.
Now It's Overhead - Hi.
Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning. (If, like myself, you'd not watched The Sopranos, this may be considered obscure.)
Strung Out - Radio Suicide.
Zero 7 - Terry Callier's Love Theme From Spartacus.
Bond - Big Love Adagio.
Christophe Goze - Sensually Yours.
Argent - Hold Your Head Up.
Dorrough - Ice Cream Paint Job.
Reverend Horton Heat - Eat Steak.

Just discovered this... Released in 1993. Just sounds so out of place for when it was made, and for a British band as well. Great riffs, great harmonies and extremely catchy choruses. It's like Big Star multiplied by The Replacements divided by '80s hair metal.

WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS BEFORE?!?!?!? IT'S ******* AWESOME!!!

Not just one song I know, but the whole album is worth it.
