I can't be the only one that thinks Melbourne's midfield is massively overrated. When one of Oliver and Petracca are kept quiet or out of form they are screwed.
Amazing how the Demons don't cop s**t, everything springs from their defense and they are s**t going inside 50. They looked like us for the first half of the game and they do it quite often.
They do however have a lot more sideways/erratic movement in their forward line which ends up with a player free amongst the mayhem.

Has the throw become our version of the NBA's travel and carry?

It makes the game more offensive and flow so let it go. Until you don't and randomly call it?
Think you could add the following to that:

  • Push in the back
  • Running too far - particularly from kick ins
  • Running through the protected area

Almost always when the above are called they are correct but they are let go at least ten times as much.

James Hird was the king of the slick 'handball' aka throw over 30 years ago.

True - maybe it seems more widespread now than before. A one handed give to a team mate. From an extended arm with the other arm pinned... that seems to have gone further than before.

Nick Daicos holding the ball!! Play on!! There really is different rules for different players!

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

Then snap call a throw up when in possession of Essendon and they have three extras at the contest.

Ah should have been holding the ball... um can't it is Daicos... um I will throw it up.

Oh and not to forget as seen just now the good old do whatever you want to a defender trying to touch the ball near the goal line
