Whether he ever would've made it or not he had wheels & could offer depth in a few positions, I'm struggling to see what McEntee & some Frank the Tank spud from Geelong offer the list at all.

Flabbergasted that McEntee is still there.
Or that he was ever drafted.
Surely there's someone around pick 102 that would be an upgrade?
Frederick has pace, but thats about it. He has nothing else to offer. What saved McEntee was the change of role near the end of the season, which saw him actually do very well. So list management made the call that there might be a position for that role.

I reckon you wont see him every game. He will get trotted out for specialist roles to negate the likes of Charlie Cameron et-al.

We shall see.

Would like to see him and his twin brother in action in Freo's forward line for 1 or 2 games. Reckon it might be pretty entertaining to watch.

Me too and I'm a Freo supporter. I know he's quick so what was the issue holding him back. We could do with a quick small player who can play both forward and defence.

Hes not super quick. He doesnt break the lines. I feel he got the best out of himself, he just lacks any form of afl trait. Hes ok at a few things but theres not one part of his game that hes elite at

It's a mystery. I think he played as a pressure forward for a quarter or so in a game where he came on as a sub (maybe against Richmond) and looked completely lost.

IMO Marty has a lot of speed - almost in the blistering category, but doesn't use it as much as he could/should. That doesn't mean he is a 100+ game, AFL footballer, just that he has never maximised his greatest asset IMO.

For years Port has had a problem with oppo small forwards who have blistering speed / or are very quick and are highly skilled, so they don't need that blistering speed. It started before Hinkley got here, but in 2013 it stood out like dogs balls when we played Geelong and Steven Motlop cut us to shreds in 2 games and then the SF. So at 2013 draft we specifically targeted small quick defenders in Impey and Darcy Byrne Jones (DBJ) and to a lesser extent Amon who had played a bit across HB.

Impey played the first year, but he wasn't that smart and guys like Betts who he was a bit slower than Impey made him look foolish. DBJ didn't play until his 3rd year and whilst he played on the small forwards, he has never been developed as a shut down defender on the fast small guys. He's quick enough, but they want him to attack more so he plays off his man, presses up and isn't disciplined to play as a shut down defender on the fast little blokes.

IMO Frederick should have been developed to play as a lock down small defender on quick little blokes like Charlie Cameron. But we don't do it and the little guys who are quick, get Burton plays on them, who is quick and bigger than those type of opponents, but with his dodgy hammies that was a dangerous thing as he tweaked them rather than tore them when he was given that sort of job. Even an average player with blistering speed like Petruccelle has torn us up a couple of times.

At SANFL level Marty plays a lot in the middle, so his defensive skills don't get developed when he plays there as he attacks. He runs all day but isn't that smart with his running, ie where he runs to and when he sprints off.

At AFL level he isn't going to play in the middle and apart from 2 or 3 early games in his first year where probably the adrenaline was kicking in and his teammates were looking after him, he hasn't made much of an impact in his 14 games. Partly as 5 or 6 have been as sub and he has been pretty poor when he has had to play a 1/4 or plus or minus a bit more than a 1/4. He has looked lost in those games.

But it would be interesting to see him play with his brother. Twins do have a sixth sense with each other and look out for each other, so would be interesting to see if he rises up to Michael's level if they played a few games together in the same part of the ground.

bloke who never should have played afl but somehow did…..signs with Sturt.

we will read in a couple of years of him resigning with portland
