What was phone reception like for Friday night?
Not good for me (on vodafone). Not sure if temporary upgrade was ready for this week, or I assume it’s just Telstra and nothing for optus/vodafone?
I seemed to have some luck with Telstra, struggled during the breaks but it was at least enough to check stats and such during the quarters. So a starting point that will help for this year, and glad to see the response from the trust, but still not a long term solution.

I can't talk about Friday night, but I'm with Optus and over the years I've found reception to be fine during quarters as people are watching the game & not really on their phones

It's always been about the 10/15mins before the match starts and then during breaks when it shits itself - curious to see what it's like next match

I'd agree with that in previous years, however first two games this year I'd had absoloutely nothing for the entire two and a half hours, including in quarter. Perhaps it's more that those games both drew 35k+ but this was smaller and hence less demand on the network?

We were there on Friday and it was no better at all (not sure if temp system is up and running yet though).

FYI- we’re with Telstra

Why do we need towers? Cant we use the light towers?

This is the temporary tower for the season until they can sort it properly. As to why you can't use the light towers I could think of a bunch of obvious reasons, but as I'm neither a structural nor comms engineer I'll keep them to myself.

Suffice to say these things all serve a different purpose, and are assets that belong to different orgs, with different standards, and I'm sure different safety regulations.

Hey guys, sorry for bothering you but where is the best place to sit for opposition supporters. Or does it really not matter? I’m bringing my wife and 2 children to the game

82k members the insufferable MC spruiked on Saturday night.
A club record she said.

Yet our season average so far 32,473 (at Kardinia Park). Nearly 8k or 19% under capacity.
For such a large fanbase it really should be sold out.

Seems a few in this fanbase (not necessarily anyone here) are letting us all down.
Bums on seats or sell back to the club to re-sold for the day.

Piss poor effort all round.

Its frustrating to see empty seats on Tv, when you have tried to grab some all week, only to be told its sold out.

Its the price the club pays for having such a high season ticket holder allocation. Same happens at the G where dreamtime (for example) sells out but only 80k show up.

If the seat is sold, club still gets the cash so financially no worse off. Bad look on the tv and is a league wide issue the AFL needs to address.

I know it's been mentioned already and from memory there were some defensive responses... but the turnout from the section around the cheersquad has been very poor this year... If you can't fill the area that's fine, but surely it should become an area that GA can sit or something like that? Probably close to 75-100 empty seats in this section, and beyond just the number, it's a really average look for a prime time game.

Players Stand, lower level. This season bays and bays of members were relocated to make that seating open to public purchase or whatever, for opposition. Plus opposition cheer squad is back at that end again, what is referred to as the river end.

My reserved seats are always up for resale
So far only not sold for PA game.
Good seats front row top deck players stand.
But yeah.. seeing empty seats on a fully ticketed game not a good look.

Go Catters

I tried to sell my seats as I couldn't make it but no luck. I agree though, it looks piss poor on TV and it makes the new stand look like a waste of money if we can't fill the place.

Haven't really noticed. For years the opposition race around the scoreboard on the river end, but as of this year it seems they come out nearby to the Cats. I've got young kids these days so I don't get much spare time to see whats going on pre-game. lol

Lower crowds due to purchased seat holders not turning up still costs the club.

Lower average crowds means the club has less leverage in negotiating catering and advertising contacts.

Advertising is driven by the tv, but yes the catering contract would take a hit.
