And the follow up happened today, his relay team ran an amazing race finished second in their heat and third overall in the metro state champs today. He's pretty excited!

The relays are such good team spirit and school spirit events

Athletics is such an individual pursuit but that's one time everyone comes together

I actually wonder why they don't do teams for the other events

Eg long jump your team of four gets the combined distance of each person's best jump

Especially at school level when you're wanting the kids to fall in love with the sport

One of the most unintentionally hilarious parts of sport is when tennis players yell at the family members / friends / coaches in their box for not supporting enthusiastically enough
