Penetrating ball.
Tumbling ball.
Long ball.
Pumping ball.

What am I missing??
This constant use of “ball” is doing my head in, it sounds ridiculous and is an obvious attempt by these idiots to sound different.

Why can’t they just say “good kick”, or “long direct kick” etc….

Don’t these morons JB and BT realise that using the descriptor “good ball” etc .. isn’t grammatically correct?

Once an object (the football) is kicked or disposed; describing the action or result of said disposal needs an adjective to describe the action (kick)

For example; what they are doing is like saying “good bike” to describe an act of a motorcyclist taking a corner well.

It doesn’t make sense and sounds ridiculous

It makes sense because everyone knows what he means therefore it isn't ridiculous, it's just how language works.

One of the commentators in last night’s game mentioned Sydney beating two top four teams from last year so far this year. Longmire said something similar after the game at the press conference. Sydney have beaten Melbourne and Collingwood so far. Last year’s preliminary finalists: Collingwood, Brisbane, GWS and Carlton. Where is Melbourne on that list?
Because you are referring to "final 4", which isn't the same thing as "top 4".

Linguistic descriptivism is the way to go. 🤗

I am referring to the final four teams left standing. Finishing in the top four in the regular season simply means you are seeded fourth or higher entering the finals series. The results of the finals determines the final finishing positions.
