Rumour Adelaide Crows camp

worth a listen

Thanks for posting that.

What utterly, utterly shits me about this is the dishonesty and lack of self reflection about their roles as sporting commentators and journos.

These are former team-mates and close friends of Eddie and JJ.

And they are doing exactly what they did when their team mate dual Norm Smith medallist Andrew McLeod deserted the Adelaide Crows a few years back.

Saying they didn't know. That they were misled. That they believed what the guys in suits told them. And still trying to deflect from any criticism of their mate who was Football Director at the time this all happened and is STILL on the Crows Board.

Telling their listeners to still have faith in the Crows' Brand and logo regardless of what a few rogue individuals did.

Any wonder that Eddie Betts and Josh Jenkins ignored their former crows team mates and went to Melbourne to lodge their complaints.

What a disgrace.

However the main reason Adelaide lost the grand final...
Fair call.

But I think the main thing to remember is the fact is that less than 18 months after the tragic murder of their coach, the Crows were in the Grand Final after being clearly the best team in the competition all year.

And as Eddie Betts says, for losing that one game on the home ground of their opponent in front of a crowd dominated by their opponents supporters, their employer sent them to a torture camp that destroyed not only their sense of camaraderie and commitment to each other in the face of diversity but left many of them scarred for life.

On any measure of decency that is a feckin disgrace.

“Derek specialises in performance-based mindset training using proprietary mindset profiling, and teaches a unique batman belt of mental skills.”

Mindset profiling, so must be Derek who came up with the idea to get people to divulge childhood secrets and trauma then yell it at them in a group setting. Genius

“In the sporting world I've been a High-Performance Mindset Coach for the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team, and the Adelaide Crows AFL team, helping the latter rise to Minor Premiers and a Grand Final in 2017”

Then the other guy still boasts about working the the Crows!! He helped them get to a GF! Although he doesn’t boast about what happened after…

Massive ban to everyone who was involved setting this up at the club. And by massive I mean years.

And yeah, this would mean people at other clubs being banned, I would have Adelaide compensate those teams for the cost and annoyance of replacing those people.

As a port fan I would love draft or trade sanctions but I don’t see the point in that.

As for deducting points, if Adelaide were a finals team it would be the thing to do, you simply can’t have them being celebrated for winning finals and maybe winning it all in the midst of this, but they’re s**t right now anyway, so it’s a bit of a non issue.

And they should be made to make a full absolute confession of everything they knew about the camp, the cover up etc. not this we’re sorry if some people hurt s**t, admittance that they organised a damaging shitshow and tried to cover it up.. even if it opens them up to litigation from Cm. And they shouldn’t be allowed to play an afl game, train, or operate as a club in anyway (effective pause on license) until they do this.

And massive financial sanctions amd the money goes towards helping the people it hurt ie counseling.

I would also favour draw sanctions over draft and trading sanctions. The crows should not get prime time slots over other clubs. They should be made to play the poor to average timeslots for the next few years.

And here’s the kicker. I would let any player at the club who doesn’t feel like they want to be there effectively tear up their contract. Caveat being that the player has to justify it to an independent counsel who tells the afl to tear up his contract. Adelaide would get compensated like free agency compo but maybe not too high a pick for a player who leaves this way. I doubt many (if anyone at all) players would take it up though, but at least the option is there if a player doesn’t feel comfortable staying.
It seems as though the camp affected you more than anyone else. For that, we say sorry.

Can’t understand the point of these type of camps for sporting teams. What are they meant to achieve? Losing a grand final is punishment enough, review it, learn from it and then just get on with it. Try again next season. AFL teams are over coached, over analysed, and full of w***ers in the background trying to look good.
Just another AFL boys club cover up to add to the large catalogue. The ’brand’ and cash matters at all cost, not players welfare and well being. Simply disgusting.

Perhaps he just has a legitimate desire for integrity and justice....as opposed to others who’d help a mugger stab their mother in the eye for a dime...and then join in the kicking......

Rubbish, we never got compensated for losing dean bailey to suspension for things he did at Melbourne.
The precedent has been set.

1. That you weren’t compensated when Bailey was removed from you for a year is entirely irrelevant
A) 1 mistake doesn’t mean we should keep making a mistake
B) This is way way way worse than what melb did. It’s not even remotely comparable.

This is a pretty childish response to a pretty serious matter.

I would bet money on you being the exact type of crows fan that has enabled the bubble of superiority around that club that has always blamed others. It’s McLeods fault. It’s tippets fault. It’s levers fault. Its Triggs fault. It’s rendells fault. It’s pykes fault. Its always someone’s fault after they leave the club. A rogue element.

And everyone wonders why your club keeps having these “rogue” elements. Some coincidence.

Only way the crows get punished for a camp that has already been cleared is if the new CEO comes in and decides they want to use this as an example for the way the AFL is going to be run moving forward

Highly, highly unlikely that happens

What this really shows is that the integrity department at the AFL is a load of crap. Should be named the liability department

Interesting listening....Graham Cornes interviewing the directors and lead facilitators not long after the fallout became public.
Damage control via Graham Cornes for the Crows. The interviews are in three parts with the latter part of Part 2 and all of Part 3 covering the camp from the facilitator's perspective. Part 1 and the first half of Part 2 cover the director's background/credentials.....make your own judgement.

I hope that in addition to leaving the AFC in any kind of capacity, Mark Riccuito is also let go by Fox Footy, is boundary line and special comments are extremely irritating to the nth degree.

No chance for Teflon Roo.

It's why he's got such a gravely voice, offsets the ability for anything else to stick to him.

Don't watch much footy media these days, but would be interested to hear if dunstall/pavlich (and others?) covered this as part of their review at the crows a couple of years back?
Have they made any comment given recent revelations?

That plus all the related tweets and stuff. Defending his club is about what you come to expect from the AFL’s ‘independent’ media, but this all positively sounded like marketing and advertisement placement for Collective Mind. It’s so OTT that I wonder if money changed hands

I would guess they would have signed legal disclaimers that they are not allowed to reveal of their findings publicly...

I'd imagine they should be part of the conspiracy theory being peddled by Gerard Whateley and other members of the VFL media over on Fox footy of late. It's an odd mixture of opinion based "journalism" going on over there at present.

The only conspiracy in this case is to ensure that actually what happened never sees the light of day or is held up to that light to examine it from an independent point of view.

Is anyone really surprised? This is perfectly on brand for the Crows.
Learnt from their cross town rivals - THe experts in coverups.

But I guess the imitator is never as good as the master.

Someone asked the other day about Gerard Whateley's comments stating that the Adelaide media were effectively running a protection racket for the Adelaide Crows.

Take a look at this segment from last night's Footy Classified where Caro showcases David Penberthy - former newscorp journalist and co-host of Adelaide's FiveAA breakfast radio program - taking a juvenile and vindictive on-air snipe at Wilson and Sam McClure's pursuit of the camp story. That was just 3 months ago and Penberthy is now saying he is disgusted what happened at the camp and didn't know.

BTW. David Penberthy is the parter of Crows Board member and former Adelaide Federal MP and Minister Kate Ellis. The person giggling in the background is the program's co-host Will Goodings, the son of Crows Director, gameday MC and former Channel 7 Adelaide News presenter Graeme Goodings.

What an incestuous little city Adelaide is.

At the time we called that “independent” review what it was. Roo funneling the clubs money to his mates to lay the blame on some expendables and to clear him. That crows fans bought it was embarrassing. But of course they were listening to the media circle jerk.

How dumb can you be to try to throw mud right now? Everyone can see through your petty attempt.

There was an eight page wraparound special edition of the News when the Crows beat Essendon in a practice match ffs. Footy politics in SA has left them a protected species from day one, it's always wirth remembering the only reason they were even formed was to keep Port Adelaide out of the AFL and they couldn't even manage that in the end.

Don Pyke has at least taken responsibility and apologised, for me the bigger question is how did those cowboys get anywhere near an elite professional sporting team with the qualifications they have and how did the AFL tick it off?
Pykes recalcitrance about saying anything bad about the camp suggests to me he's a true believer in the mankind project cult.

Someone mentioned ‘sack Roo’ banners at the game. It’s time. Lifelong crows supporter. We have to make it clear we aren’t going to keep being treated like mushrooms by an incompetent board at club’s expense. Roo thinks he’s bigger than the club, and again, he is proving he is. If I had a million bucks, I’d paint it across the Adelaide sky. Maybe we crowdfund this…
