KEY RECRUITS
Brede Seccull (from South Adelaide): “Brede is a tough inside midfielder and can potentially have an impact up forward. We like his grunt and his leadership has been exceptional. Brede has been playing under Garry Hocking’s coaching in the SANFL.”
Tom Lamb (West Coast AFL): “Tom was on West Coast’s list for three years (for one AFL game), so we’re lucky to get his signature. He’s a wingman/forward who clearly has the athletic ability and we think he has a lot of AFL attributes. He knows AFL defensive systems and he’s bought into our system really well.”
Hayden McLean (Sandringham Dragons): “Hayden will play forward and he can jump into the ruck too. He captained the Dragons in 2017 so he has leadership qualities, and he moves really well for a big guy. By all reports he was reasonably unlucky not to get drafted last year.”
PRE-SEASON PERFORMER
Kade Answerth: “Kade hasn’t missed a beat this pre-season and this time last year he wasn’t up and running (but went on to win Sandringham’s best-and-fairest). He’s such a pro in how he goes about things and he’s certainly got the potential to take his game to another level.”
LEADERSHIP MATERIAL
“I’d think the likes of Kade Answerth, Myke Cook, Jack Noone, Dylan Weickhardt and Brede Seccull will form the basis of our leadership group. We have a strong leadership core and they’re very capable of setting the standards.”
BREAK-OUT CANDIDATE
Beau Bailey: “Beau is a small forward and we like what he can give us. He got limited chances last year (four senior games) in his first season at the club, but you just want guys like Beau to come in and play a part for us when it’s their turn. He’ll certainly play his part at some stage.”
