He's only going to get better as well! It seems like a pretty clear directive for him to take the game on at all costs which is inevitably going to lead to the odd mistake but will be well worth it. And far out he is hard at it!

Enjoyed him taking on the game last night and I'm slowly warming to him. If he can go the season without giving away a 50m penalty, I'll back him in for the rest of his career.

he made a couple of mistakes (dropped marks and errant kicks) but his aggressiveness, dash and penetrating kick are really useful to the team. he got thrown into the midfield in the last and kicked a nice goal.
Although he did do a couple of bad things he also did more than a handful of good things. Seriously looking like shaw has had a big influence on him. Just as quick if not quicker than shaw. Just needs to tighten up his disposal a little. If he does that, he will be one of the best rebounding defenders of the league and clubs will be lining up to poach him. This blokes a keeper!
The scrap between mills and treloar last night had everyone rushing in. I sort of cringed when jones came in but he kept it cool. Im proud of him. Last year he probably would have given away a free. Using his agression and hard nosed approach for a team oriented matter. That is irreplaceable.

Hate what happened to Swan, but I do like the fact that Jones will attack the contest with intent. Time to stop all this crap about a shaky backline. We have never been weak down back.
The comparison to Shaw I think is what we want but to me, we don't want the Rhyce Shaw who averaged over 20 touches a game. The 2012 Rhyce Shaw who averaged about 17-18 touches a game while being defensively sublime is the guy I want Zak Jones to emulate - and incidentally I think that suits Jones to a tee because he is so happy to tackle and spoil with vigour.
2012 version Rhyce Shaw I think is when he was the most well-rounded player he could be. Rebounding often without going over the top and making too many mistakes and being tremendous defensively. That's what I want to see Zak Jones be.

Aside from his rebound, he's just the sort of player who you know is going to make you earn every single possession. He goes into contests looking to kill the ball and cause some pain. Small forwards and resting mids are going to be looking over their shoulders every time the ball comes in. As long as he keeps it within the rules... mostly.
I wasnt as impressed by his game as some of you guys. I think he still has a fair bit to work on. But i like his aggression and competitiveness. Will develop into a fine player.

I think he'll be just as good, if not better than his brother. Nathan Jones is a gun and he's become a gun because of his hard work and not natural ability! Zak, as publicised, has the same trait.

Last week was his breakout game for mind and it was just as important as the Lloyd, Pappley and Mills breakout games. The look and feel of the 2016 Swans was birthed in these four guys and it was awesome to watch.
I don't know about that. Nathan jones is a unique player in that he performed at a consistently high standard when everyone around him was an absolute dud. Imo, that's a trait that few players have. He has ablett-like determination.
And for me, that's what seperates joel selwood from his brothers. That absolute will to win, possessiom after possession.
When we drafted zak, i was hoping he'd be the more highly skilled brother, because i wouldn't have thought he'd have the same level of mental fortitude as nathan. If has has a career anywhere close to nathan then we've drafted a great player.

Needs to lower his eyes at times though. Bombing it without knowing what's ahead of him can be a recipe for disaster if the ball comes pinging back in with interest.

Today, it was more a case of picking the wrong target rather than bombing it for the sake of it, a-la Mitchell.
