Spotswood junior 12 years old fully grown would take the ball on the full back line bounce and baulk to the forward line and kick a goal untouched by opponents lol.
Yeppp i played a game in under 14's against Spotty. Bachar kicked 20 goals (im not joking) off half back. He was a full grown man at 13 years old!

Thirds draw is out
Why does the league allow clubs from other competitions who target young players from teams in WFNL to play in our comp?
It is only weakening our teams and league and strengthening others

Would Bacchus Marsh really target a thirds player from the likes of Hoppers, Pt.Cook and Laverton?

WFNL have three U18 women's teams playing in the EDFL this season because the WFNL couldn't provide an U18 Women's competition.

Werribee Centrals now have their juniors, senior women's and men thirds playing in the WFNL, strengthening ties is a good thing for the WFNL. Doesn't mean the Centrals are coming over, but things change and maybe one day.........

Player poaching works both way.

Monster win by Spotswood, I fear the worst for PCC. That’s a very bad result!

Newport with a good win over the dogs. I think the other results were all expected?

This may have been asked here before so apologies if I’m bringing up an old topic here. Interested to know what’s happened at the Vikings in the last 2-3 years? They have a lot of ex players who are playing at other clubs who’d walk straight into there senior side if they were still at Altona. It always seemed to be a tight knit sort of club where players stayed incredibly loyal until recently.

It is not a simple answer and it is not just over the last 2 to 3 years it is since the 2019 Grand Final loss.

Covid and issues around Covid, moving on to other opportunities, not fitting in with where the club was heading are just a few.

Too say $$$$ is both lazy and wrong but there has been a substantial turnover if you look at players from the 2019 and 2022 Grand Final sides now playing elsewhere:
Jordon Robbins

Joshua Macdonald

Jack Papachatzakis

Josh Rafferty

Jayden Post

Abdul Jawad

Kevin Johnston

Jack Marlais

Sean Tighe

Elliot Cavallaro

Kelly Pickard

Omar Abou-Zeid

Daniel O’Leary

Mitchell Turnbull

Connor Menadue

Saad El-Hawli

That is a big list but not unusual given the turmoil in local football over the 5 seasons. It is now about bringing through their juniors which will take a little time

Think Saad has a reasonable excuse to be playing elsewhere...

Missed Norman who went back to home area.

To be fair, only Elhawli left to play a higher level

A few who may have left earlier than that:
Trent Rafferty
Lochlan Allen
Pele Manivong

Trent Rafferty left in 2021, Lochlan Allen and Pele Maivong left at the end of 2018. None left for money

$$. Look at the Hepburn and Daylesford sides from last weekend. Almost like Werribee Districts v Altona from a few years ago. And Tighe can be added to the Hepburn list.

Jordon Robbins

Joshua Macdonald - back to Glenorden

Jack Papachatzakis - Newport

Josh Rafferty - left after turning 30

Jayden Post - left after turning 30

Abdul Jawad - retired then to Newport

Kevin Johnston - only at Altona few years

Jack Marlais - left after turning 30

Sean Tighe - decent money and a tree change

Elliot Cavallaro - went home

Kelly Pickard - decent money and a sea change

Omar Abou-Zeid - retired then Newport

Daniel O’Leary - not sure

Mitchell Turnbull - decent money and a sea change

Connor Menadue - decent money and a sea change

Saad El-Hawli - drafted

The bull who left, went to a lower standard after giving their best to Altona. Not much in it I think.

Let’s face it there is a club down on the Bellarine paying 4 or 5 of these departees huge well over the odds $$$ . This club would be paying triple the allowed TPP at least . Still long odds to play finals . All this does is make it harder and harder for the hard working clubs like Altona to keep their players . The fabric of local clubs is being torn apart .

Do clubs paying good $$$ not work as hard?

Post and Robbins hadn’t played for a season or two had they?
