WRFL Div 2 Discussion 2025

Can someone please explain what the THIRDS COMPETITION is and is there a 2025 fixture available. Thanks.
Yea as previous poster mentioned it’s a Friday comp for those unable to commit to Saturday and all the training commitments.
Just need to keep an eye on things that teams are correctly managed as a minority can spoil it through players fighting and carrying on. Especially when crowds are drinking as well.
Few issues in the EDFL over recent years.

In addition to above, the comp also allows those teams/players who have missed out on a game in their clubs senior/reserves and the club has sufficient numbers to create another team continue to play footy.
The other positive is that it allows clubs such as Glenorden and now this year, Nth Sunny, to continue and survive

The counterpoint is that players will simply stay at a fully stocked club. Without a thirds comp, players missing out on a Saturday game would have to go to a club that needs the numbers. Bit of a double-edged sword.

Another positive for the Thirds comp is that it allows an easier passage for new clubs and junior clubs transitioning into senior football. Manor Lakes were advertising for playersr to play Thirds this year in their efforts to return to senior footy, havent heard if they will be able to.

What's Eynesbury's next move?
Riddle or West? And at what age groups.
New clubs are so important.

RDFL trying to re-establish their own thirds comp so interesting to see What Eynesbury do, stay in the WFNL Thirds or revert back to the RDFL Thirds.

Interesting that the WFNL have secured access to the Eagle Stadium in Ballan Road as a venue for its netball. That and the new road opening from Ballan Road direct to Eynesbury must make the WFNL more attractive to Eynesbury.

RDFL a reasonably strong single tier comp makes it harder for new / newish clubs like Eynesbury, D2 in WFNL looks a more suitable proposition for them.

I wonder if they chose the WFNL will their juniors do the same? Fairly sure the juniors are in the RDFNL.

I posted earlier about thirds limbo and Eynesbury is a perfect example. How long have they been playing thirds footy without entering seniors and reserves sides? Some clubs once they’re in thirds find it hard to get out. Eynesbury being a growing area is hopefully an exception.

Agree, crunch time not far away.

The withdrawal of North Sunshine and Glenorden and the big 3 going up to D1, will tighten D2 from top to bottom. Should be a better comp, hopefully we see closer games.

No one appears to have closed the gap to Wyndhamvale and they should win it. No promotion this year means they don't have to spend to win it, just steady as she goes.

Hopefully Laverton continue to improve along with Heights, West and the Rams. North have quite a few in, not sure of their quality as has Braybrook. Albanvale may be the biggest challenger along with the Suns, but I won't make any headlines thinking it's all about Wyndhamvale.

Not expecting much from Tarneit who are concentrating on getting their 18s up, hopefully Manor Lakes can too and rejoin senior footy in a couple of years.

Expecting a more competitive D2.

West has picked up a couple of B Grade Ammo players. Will certainly make a difference.

Age is only a Number.
Still be good for the younger guys and handy deep forward
Would have been given a good offer so hope he gets paid. It’s a decent pick up if you purely want to be just competitive in div2 but his not going to get you top 1-3.

Issue with braybrook over the years as been they chase a lot of recruits but known to not pay some due to there finance situation.

Find it amazing that players get sucked in each year to clubs that don’t honour contracts.

You are better than this Turbo, this is complete BS.

Braybrook always pays their players in full. No one is owed any money. In fact, they have made the mistake of paying too much upfront and players have taken off - hopefully the club has learnt this lesson.

Why spread such a rumour when you have never been at the club. Poor form.

They play edfl div2 reserves. Hardly a big recruit..
$55 to attend the braybrook season launch. Wow wee are you kidding.. To listen to them announce div2 reserves players.. 😂😩
Meanwhile at Lavo, have you seen their season Launch post? Free to attend and giving away a Free Samsung Tv!!
+ $10k Reverse Raffle. Members getting better value than the AFL memberships!!

Suns & Albanvale will be up they're again this year for a premiership
