It’s the only football oval on the list of choices, the rest are just cricket groundsKardinia Park and it’s not even close.
Country ground
Mangled dimensions
No capacity
It’s Victoria’s Norwood Oval. And is a disgrace.
Props to the Catters though for continually grifting the Victorian tax payers to pay for their sham redevelopments and scoreboards etc.
That's where you are wrong cobba, footy is meant to be played on a wide ground , kardinia park is a handbagger ovalIt’s the only football oval on the list of choices, the rest are just cricket grounds

I wonder why they didn't fix the dimensions when they did the renovations.geelong playing on a ground with substandard dimensions is no different to St Kilda watering Moorabbin back in the 80s
Google Maps it and you'll see the problem (street location).I wonder why they didn't fix the dimensions when they did the renovations.
There's a car park where they did the renovations, though, they could have moved the stands using up that parking area and designed it to make the boundary dimension more wider and symmetrical.Google Maps it and you'll see the problem (street location).
What a dumb post, but hey, who can be surprised? I'd love to hear how you see the two as being the same!geelong playing on a ground with substandard dimensions is no different to St Kilda watering Moorabbin back in the 80s
Only if they did the stands all at the same time, but the redevelopment was staggered over 15 or so years because of fundingThere's a car park where they did the renovations, though, they could have moved the stands using up that parking area and designed it to make the boundary dimension more wider and symmetrical.
It was by design, it was a compromise to fit it on that land.Worst ground is marvel, built the wrong way, grass is horrible, how could you get a new stadium so wrong
The tough bit, though, is that you would need to shift everything (i.e. the goalposts, and therefore the two "end" stands) for that to happen. I get what you're saying, but pulling the centre of the ground away from Moorabool Street would be extremely difficult in AFL in a way that it would not be for a soccer ground. There's a car park where they did the renovations, though, they could have moved the stands using up that parking area and designed it to make the boundary dimension more wider and symmetrical.
One of my favourite footy going experiences. Don’t know how it would be with a capacity crowd, but with a reasonable attendance it was just fine. Did give vibes of an enhanced WAFL feel but that was part of the charm.I moved to Sydney before last season, and have been to 5 games at Giants home ground.
Personally I don’t mind it, it doesn’t have the roar of the huge stadiums, but I like that you aren’t miles away because of it’s size.
Not the best, but not the worst imo.
And yet eleventy million light years ahead of the massive shithole it replacedMarvel, shithole.
If it was built east-west, the western end would be under water.Worst ground is marvel, built the wrong way, grass is horrible, how could you get a new stadium so wrong
Harsh. Norwood oval is a solid ground in the SANFL.Gold
Totally agree, although I found out a few weeks ago if you want really squeezy seats go watch Liverpool at Anfield. Brand new stand and could barely move!I honestly don't mind grounds having slightly different dimensions, sizes, and conditions. It's nothing like baseball or cricket where things can really be different to the point where player selection and strategy can become drastically altered. Even then, I love seeing how players and teams adapt to their environment so that they still have the best chance of winning.
As an aside, does anybody else find the seats on level 4 at the G almost unbearably uncomfortable? I love the G but I can't sit still when I'm up there on level 4; the seats seem tiny and there's next to no leg room.
