Contract 1:
2mil 2019, 1mil 2020 = 1.5 per year over 2 years
Contract 2:
800k 2021, 800k 2022, 800k 2023 = 800k per year over 3 years.

6mill for 5 years. 1.2mil per year.

if we have the flexibility.

Not allowed, you need to show why there is such drop off in pay.

FA's of star quality are all but gone besides Lynch, makes this acquisition ridiculously important and Clarko sure as hell needs to break the rule regarding not offering outlandish contracts. Lynch literally turns us from a top 8 side to a genuine top 4 team that contends, commercially he will also replace (if you can at all) Rioli as our most marketable player.

Our forward line with Lynch in it is the best in the comp by streets, I think Clarko will also make adjustments with our game style having more confidence to play direct rather than the lateral overkill switches we see atm.

Bruest - Roughead - Gunston
Puopolo - Lynch - Worpel (rotate on ball)

Crazy elite.

We are in a very interesting transition as a club.

When you are challenging for a flag you get buy in from the top down to take unders to keep the momentum rolling and this has always been spruiked by the Hawks to everyone.

Right now we have released this very ambitious plan to pick up 2 flags in 5 years.

For us to achieve that ambitious plan most look at our list and agree we need some quality talent to come into our front door.

I would suggest Tom Lynch from what he has so far achieved at 26 in 8 years should be in the 700-800 bracket max but here we are fighting for a player that will be paid a lot more than that.

I just hope our ambitious overall plan doesn’t end up potentially derailing is at the same time.

The most important thing for a club is to know where their list is at.

I genuinely have no idea if we're in need or a rebuild or we're just a top up away from success.

Yes agree.

All this talk has made Tom Lynch seem like a mix between Carey and Plugger however he averages

16 games per season
6 marks per game
1.94 goals per game
29% winning percentage

The hysteria around this bloke is incredible for what he has actually achieved so far.

Shows how dry the market is, how important gun KPPs are, and how we have none.

Those stats are quite good for an absolute basket case club... if he kicks 2 goals a game, it's probably half the team's score, and off 3 inside 50s... imagine someone like that with quality service, in a winning culture.

Also, all this shit about 700k a season, what are you people thinking? With the new tv rights, this is like entry level for anyone who has shown a bit... if we don't change our thinking we'll be the next Carlton or North.

Of all of our prized pick ups over the past 10 years, only one has been from Free Agency and only the two most recent were obvious want-away stars.

We went about picking up Gunston quietly; Burgoyne, McEvoy, Hale, Gibson, Lake and to a lesser extent O'Rourke were all left field and all bar O'Rourke have been successes.

I'm not too concerned that Free Agents are signing on, or that we don't look like we're in the running for too many, because chances are there are things at play in the background that we haven't even considered. Kids that other teams have picked up that aren't getting a good run of it, a few undervalued players from other lists that we liked in drafts where we didn't have the picks.

We'll be active, but everyone needs to stop pretending that we were in with a shot of (or even interested in) all of the current Free Agents.

How much value do you put on the fact he has been tied up with an absolute rabble? Give him to us/Sydney/Geelong for the last 8 years and he's likely been a triple AA and has 400 snags on the board.

That point doesn't hold much water. Fevola was a great forward in an average side and won the Coleman from the bottom of the ladder with Carlton.

Doesn't hold much water to who? I think it certainly needs to be taken into consideration. Carlton where a lot more competitive than GC

Nah. Fev won his last coleman in 09. The game is unrecognizable compared to then, key fwds could still kick bags on ordinary sides. Gun forwards steuggle to kick big bags in great sides these days. Not a great comparison.

FWIW I think Lynch would be outstanding at Hawthorn and is well worth the $1.2 being reported. Gun when fit. Gun.

FWIW I think we might be having a little sniff around Hannebery. Barrett made inferences a month or two ago now Cal Twomey has chipped in. Current form aside I think with his age he fits the age profile.

If we could get him cheap and have the Swans pay some of his salary it could be a massive win if we could get him fit.

I am taking it into consideration - but I don't think it's a huge weight. He's still worth a lot of cash to me and I would like him at the club, I just don't think that the performance of the club is a massive indicator.

Being in a good side would likely make Tom Lynch maybe a 10 goal a year better forward, which is fair - but it's not a hugely transformative factor. For a lot of what they gain from better delivery and better structure, they will lose some by being targeted less.

I think the best effect we'd see from Lynch is what he'd do for our forward line as a whole. He'd make Roughy and Gunston 10-15 goal a year better forwards just by weight of making them secondary options.

It'd also be nice to see a contested mark from someone over 190cm in our forward line.

Knowing Clarko he’d probably play in the backline...

Jokes aside, he’s certainly worth the money. We are desperately short of elite players, and an elite kpp is worth more than an elite midfielder in that they are a lot rarer. I hope we are willing to fork out.

Hannebery is one player I despise the most from an opposition club, he is always trying to do the "tough guy" stuff when a player has his back turned or when he is the third man in, in a scuffle.

Do not want, even if he was back to his best again.
