I have to say, watching the replay, if you knew nothing about how Collingwood supporters treat their own, and the "Tooooooovvveeees" cult call that has developed over time, you would have thought Toovey was the most hated player ever to wear black and white.

We need to "tweak" the Tooves chant just a little, it really does sound like a "Booooooooo".

As stated above, even Toovey said himself in a CTV interview that he didn't know why the supporters were booing him early in the season.

Love the "Toooovvvvveeess" chant though, it's happening when he lays tackles and makes spoils now.

Au contraire! It is a loving, lyrical laudation. It is a barrackers' bendiction.

We were on level 1 and the crowd was sending worshipful waves across the ground every time Tooves did something wonderful. Sometimes I fear that boy is in danger of becoming elite.

And when Dids came our way - with that Smally-like kick he has in his gallop - we rose and applauded with gusto.

He is fast following his "partner" in defense (Harry O) in becoming a remarkably good, if not elite, player in the AFL.

Toovey just played his 50th game, he will be every bit as good as Harry by the time he hits 100 in a few years, and that's saying a lot as Harry has to be in All Australian contention now.
