Society/Culture Why are young males now more right wing then older males?

Hard economic times brings out right wing grifters to take advantage of young males while they are impressionable.

These economic times are not left or right. It's just capitalism.

We don't need masculinity.

There is no positive attribute of masculinity that cannot also be applied to women/females.

Masculinity is a collection of positive traits, ascribed to being male. The downside being that in some cases it can harm young men who are not 'masculine', and will feel less valued when/if they cannot achieve these aspects of 'being a man'.
Setting yet another set of prerequisites for young men to achieve to feel validated.

We don't need masculinity to praise a person for showing traits like strength, courage, ambition, adventurous etc etc.
Praise them for the trait.

If you disagree, then what is a positive aspect of being masculine, that you can't also ascribe to being a woman/female?
embarrassing post..
I can understand how this can be a difficult concept, as people have been taught that masculinity is what makes you a man.
And that even suggesting that masculinity isn't important, can feel like an attack on being a man.
That's why I included this in my post, to try and help some people reflect on why they so strongly hold this belief.

If you disagree, then what is a positive aspect of being masculine, that you can't also ascribe to being a woman/female?

Just a reminder, I'm not attacking you, I'm not attacking people for being a man, I'm not attacking men.
I'm pointing out that being a man doesn't need a crutch from some made up concept that isn't required.

Alright, that's enough. carltonchelsea and smelly cat, kindly take it to PM (or, rather, don't). Subsequent similar chat will be deleted, and it will be escalated if it continues.
Yeah cool Geth, sorry, I’ll just ignore the smelly cat, more of a staffy man myself anyways!
But just to stay on topic, Muhammad wasn’t very fond of dogs, particularly black ones apparently.
A bit weird of an illiterate merchant warlord to be terrified of our humble hairy companions.
Edit-lol I thought this was the Islam thread?!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🤦🤦

Ah the truth is it's because young, white men are constantly told they're the issue and they're the problem.

Be intelligent and hard working and end up in a great field? you're privileged and rich.

Be mostly average and wanting an okay job for 80 grand a year? that's mostly going to go to diversity hires.

It's showing in dating now as well. for a good ten years there, it was pronounced offensive and borderline sex offender if you went up to a group of girls at the pub and started a chat. the idea of seeing a nice looking girl and asking for her number on the street was seen as a one way ticket to humiliation, belittlement.

Now women sit on apps on wonder why men don't approach them at bars or cafes... because men have been told it's a bad thing to do, and in their experience it generally ends in rude or humiliating rejection.

Growing up in an average household with the same or similar traumas to anyone else, dealing with the same feelings every human has, and putting in yards to get an okay job and then be told your opinion is too basic or outdated...

Young men don't want to be told they're the most amazing thing around, they don't think they are, but they don't want to be told some bloke from India is more worthwhile than him.
There’s some truth in the dating thing. But that’s a societal change. I speak to young blokes who would never ever consider hitting on a girl at work.

That’s not a bad thing.

They don’t approach girls in bars. They use apps. A girl is on a dating app because she is putting herself out there. If a guy swipes right and she likes him she can too.

Girls are welcome to go speak to a guy if they like him at a pub. There’s changes in society now as a result of women being unhappy at the predatory aspect of some men. Things will even out and find their own balance.

Our organisational training told me employees get one shot at asking another employee out.
Preferably politely and with a similarly polite yay or nay.

After that. Outlawed.
I just wouldn’t go there. Fraught with dangers.

See I’m married and she’d ****ing kill me.

One of those things that self propels/fulfils.

I'd imagine dating a colleague is seen as quite taboo these days and wouldn't be looked at positively, which makes people just rule it out. even though it's probably one of the best ways to get to know someone. there isn't much better in this world then seeing someone for the first time and immediately being drawn to them, or even a few months in something just coming almost out of nowhere. you see a huge amount of behaviour that's related to connection: how they dress, how they cooperate and build relationships, their approach to stress, and those little mannerisms that create those real tugs of love. the natural progression of small talk, to finding similarities, to getting a drink, those are all proven pathways to finding someone compatible. it's the same with someone who might be on the periphery of a social circle, that girl who comes to the odd party or always seems to be leaving the pub just as you arrive.

A big part of the issue is the pushiness and entitlement plenty of men have but it seems even worse in guys born post-2000. I can imagine it does become pestering to a woman or it's a total 'we stayed on after work drinks and did something ****ing stupid' and it all explodes.
