Sooking about Sidey at 84 years old still being better than Acres?? FFS! C_mon. Give it up!

Acres is Temu Sidey.

Acres epitomises the one eyed nuffyism of Carlton people. So he once made you bloosers cream your pants in a final against Melbourne.

That's all it took for you to believe he's "one of the best wings in the comp" ever since; when clearly he's just B- grade poo.

I can't remember if the term A grade was used, but carlton_99 did group Acres in with Gulden and J.Daicos as the best 3 performing wingmen of the past couple of years. But it was based on the fact that a lot of other wingmen rotate to a second position, making it a very shallow selection pool.
One of these things is not like the others....

Gulden
J. Daicos
Acres

Holmes, McLuggage and others would then have to only be compared with other players sharing their exact rotational split.
I would just use the position they play most of their football. McLuggage was the 3rd leading CBA mid for Brisbane in 2024 and is now 2nd leading CBA mid so far in 2025. He has made a shift to being more an onballer than a winger. The fact he can do both is one of the main reasons he is a superior overall player to Acres.

It's a bit of creative accounting to exclude wingmen who also had strong showings when rotated to stoppages, half back or half forward though.

Holmes, McLuggage and others would then have to only be compared with other players sharing their exact rotational split. You couldn't compare Lugg to other midfielders or Holmes to other half backs in 2024.
I'm not gonna disagree with you on that, I'm just saying it based on what he said originally which is currently being argued over.

Didn't you put a bucket of KFC on Lachie wide load Schultz to be a good pick up for the Pies last year??? One eyed nuffyism...

Yes I said that I did post that. But if you see the messages above the first post on Acres I said top 3-4 not top 3 in case I was forgetting someone obvious outside of Gulden/Daicos/Acres. But that person was definitely not Sidebottom (the topic of conversation at the time) who was not on that level in 2023/2024.
I like Acres and what he did 2023-2024. Overrated by Blues and underrated by Pies, which is the standard formula for any Carlton player.

He hasn't reached the damaging impact players like Gulden, Daicos, McLuggage, Josh Kelly, Holmes and Massimo have had on the wing IMO. Some were too good to keep on the wing full time though.

Was his best better than Ed Langdon, Mason Wood or Nic Martin's best? It's probably more in range with those players than Gulden and Josh Daicos.

This is pretty accurate. Unfortunately when you have players like Kelly, Holmes, McCluggage etc who play a fair bit of time on ball it's quite difficult to compare them to a pure wingman. Obviously better players overall, doubt anyone would argue against that.

Fair enough. None of it is really relevant to 2025 anyway so no real using going back to 23' and 24' form.

They've retrospectively overrated their player based on Footywire stats...

Then once it's been highlighted, we see in real time how they perform compared to one another.

Whoops....
Adam Kingsley leading into round 16 said that Acres and Hollands were the best wing pairing in the AFL in his eyes. Do you reckon he based all that on Footywire stats?

Firstly, I never used Footywire stats to "rate" Acres ahead of Sidebottom. And we saw in real time in 2023 and 2024 how they performed compared to one another. You can't just ignore 2 years worth of football and focus on 3 games in 2025 where everyone has admitted Acres has been poor.

Yeah.

We're judging them in real time now, not based on historical footywire stats.

And there's nowhere to hide for the Carlton nuffies.
Please stop lying about me Fadge. No where did I use Footywire stats. And my comments on Acres/Sidebottom were posted in late-2024 and based on the last two years where Acres was in my view the superior player. If you actually read what I am writing you will also see that in 2025 I have said Sidebottom has been better than Acres so far this season.
