Who will be better in 2024: Hawthorn or Essendon?

I lie awake at night thinking about it. Will the Essendon pretenders improve from 11 wins and 11th on the ladder to 12 wins and maybe finish 9th or 10th? Or will they slide back to 13th or 14th. Can the rebuilding Hawks improve on their 7 wins and 16th position. They'll be hard-pressed finding an extra 3 or 4 wins this year to overtake the Bombers.

Maybe it would be better to ask...

I still think the Hawks will be better by Rd 24 conclusion.
Rd 1 will be interesting - most would expect a Bombers win first up.
