Great player (one of Hawthorn's best ever), but Sam Mitchell was a real jerk on the field and probably off it as well.
Luke Hodge was the absolute opposite. Ripping bloke, universally liked and respected.

I hate the Sydney Swans more than any other club because I have zero respect and never will for the easy ride they’ve had over the past 20 years. Grand final appearances get handed to them, and when they mess it up, that’s on them. It’s their failure and honestly, it feels like poetic justice.

As much as I despise Collingwood and Hawthorn, I have to admit I respect the hell out of them. Richmond ended our season in 2017, 2019, and 2020 on their way to building a dynasty, yet I still feel sorry for them.

This is what gets me with Sam. No one likes him, I don’t even think he likes anyone either. He has a massive ego, yet he is a coach who has to form relationships.
