Just imagine if Fred Rodriguez & Lucas Robertson come back into that midfield this weekend.
For sure and as you mentioned last week Jacob Donald is really stepping up in the midfield also.

Very impressed with Mitchell Stirling (PT) 195cm below ager. He's angry so probably should temper himself from time to time but I like his spirit.

Interesting, so both brothers have gun sons!

West Perth with a lot of AFL family playing at the moment, Le Cras, Longmuir and Bewick.
Max Connell is the nephew of Adelaide B&F winner and 2 x premiership player Matt Connell.

Pretty sure Max's old man Justin played a couple of league games for West Perth after leaving Subiaco for more opportunities.

Ok cool...yeah has the same hair come to think of it as Justin.

Another WA lad getting some good reviews. Fred Rodriguez (SF) and you can't get more Fremantle than a name like that, trust me. I have fond memories of times in Spearwood down that way.

Fred, it seems didn't dominate in the Academy game but it would appear that his 14 disposals were quite effective - and it's always a joy to watch a player kick both feet with ease.

He's strong - maybe not as strong as Dyson Sharp but he can break lines and accelerate away from stoppage in a similar manner. So maybe he is a genuine top 5 contender.

Thanks again to noobermensch and his often "borrowed from" youtube page.

Surely Toby Whan (SF) is in the top 10 draft mix now. Endurance, accumulation, nice short kicks, booming long kicks. Nice bursts of speed when required out of congestion. Fremantle are on to a winner (if they can get him)

Toby Whan in focus Round 2 WAFL colts here

I do love Fred, but Whan just has a few more AFL qualities that are going to be match up nightmares.
The footy budget for round 3 has just been uploaded and Toby Whan, Jacob Donald, Fred Rodriguez, Lucas Robinson** and Taj Longmuir are all listed for (SF). We don't don't know if they will all play but "ouch" for the Swan Districts mids if they do. Although Longmuir often sweeps up down back.

Well Lucas Robinson's 3 weeks are up from the head knock so he is probably an in. 6 day break for the Academy boys will be tough on them to play league, so it's possible. On a sad note Millar Rank did a knee injury in the 3rd quarter last week & I think he might be missing for a while so they do need to bring in a midfielder.

I'm quite impressed by Sam Hookham. Can he become a front line mid?

Shame for Rank. He's been good. I was worried when I saw him limping off. These guys are brave to walk/hobble off with a knee injury. I haven't seen a stretcher for a knee at any WAFL level for ages. Maybe they determined that a stretcher isn't helpful?

I think he will certainly get his chance when State duties take a few out of the mix. Has all the right attributes to be a very good inside mid.

Round 3 WAFL Colts game of the round.

East Perth v Claremont at Sullivan Logistics Stadium, Leederville, Friday April 18, 2025 at 1.55pm WA/3.55pm Vic live broadcast on https://streamer.com.au/match/4756

Two undefeated sides.

Is PSA starting this week because I can't find the fixtures anywhere including on the PSA website?

The reason I ask is because Claremont will be without Heath Mellody, Jackson Muir, Carter Bryant, Jackson Cattalini as well as Cody Curtin.

Fletcher Brown (EP) is listed as a PSA out.

Both sides have some interesting ins. For the first time this season Claremont have named state 16's squad member Elijah Dennis (brother of Clancy) and George Stoney, who I recall made the WA 15's squad in 2022. EDIT - Stoney is now listed as an emergency. Dennis will play as a tall defender.

One thing that I noticed last week watching Claremont was just how much taller and stronger Charlie Banfield is now. 191cm and much more solid. He may spend more time as an inside mid or even a tall-ish key forward 2025.

Charlie Anning, Will Duplock, Nicholas Cameron, below ager Sam Gallagher, Richard Gamble and Blake Panizza are also listed as potential Monts inclusions from last week.

Look out for Charlie Banfield (named on the wing), Oscar Willis (Def), Benji Van Rooyen** (Ruck), Charlie Watson (Key Fwd), George Gale** (Def), Tom Brown** (Def), Harper Banfield** (Mid), Noah Braun** (Wing), Robert Farmer** (Fwd), Max Hansen-Knarhoi (Mid) and Joshua Grahame (Mid).

At last scouts and recruiters get a chance to see Luke Hallett (EP), who has missed the early part of the season due to injury. A 185cm centreman, he is a prolific ball winner and ranked as a WA top 10 here on this thread.

2024 State 16's squad member James Barnard also potentially returns this week. He is a very strong defender or mid. EDIT - named as an emergency.

Royals players to impress so far in 2025 include - Max Donnelly+ (Def), Matthew Petagna (Def), Garrison Kenh** (Def), Zac Ransom+ (Key Fwd), David Whitby (Livewire small Utility), Marcus Cassidy (Fwd/Mid), Lachlan McGlade** (Fwd), William Taboni** (Wing) and Oliver Diaz+ (Def).

He is very similar to Hayden Young

Really hopeful that Luke Hallett (EP) has a big game returning from injury.

18.2 disposals per game (7 games) as a below ager in 2024 when released from PSA duties.

No PSA yet as start of school holidays. Think it starts once school is back in about 2 weeks time. Maybe some are away hence unavailable.

Yes sorry.
No no...he's an exciting addition. You're right. I wonder if Latrell can string another good one together also.

And I know this sounds old school, but I wouldn't mind seeing Lucas Robinson spend 5 minutes per quarter "resting" up forward as a marking/goal kicking target. The Bulldogs have that luxury with a power packed midfield.

Really nice game at the currently "under reconstruction" Leederville Oval between EP Colts and CL Colts.

CL 10-10 d EP 10-4
Goals CL: Robert Farmer** 3, Samson Jennings-Hopkins+ 2, Val Davies, George Bockman+, George Gale ** , Charlie Anning, Cooper Trovarello ** 1
Goals EP: Deegan Kirkness 2, Luke Hallett 2, Zac Ransom+ 2, David Whitby 2, Riley Longson, Jed Edwards+ 1
