I will say, Craigy was forever saying the Crows would be innovators .....yet PORT are doing trips to America for specialised training .....Burgess was taking PORT players overseas for heat training .....since he's been at the Crows, it's been vanilla stuff

Where is this innovation that we were supposedly going to be leading the AFL on ?
We tried it with a camp... Didn't work out

Well Riccuito said in 2019 that his goal for the Crows is to be seen as an Elite football club.

I am not sure I have seen one elite move by us.

1. We have failed to attract elite talent to the club outside of want away SA players.
2. We extended an under performing coaches contract too early without seeing any evidence of improvement
3. We have failed to attract quality football people to the club in off field roles
4. We have failed to make tough decisions on and off the field to take the next step.

What we have done is

1. Sat idle running a rebuild narrative
2. Sat idle running a rookie coach narrative
3. Sat idle at the trading table

All the while running this elite and aggressive off season narrative.

Ok I am wrong. We are elite at being a pedestrian club watching clubs go past us.

Unless it’s a given Tex will be at the club in some capacity in 2026, I can’t see how their friendship will have any bearing on Cumming’s decision.

If the money is similar it will be opportunity and club ability, he knows one side is regularly making finals and the other hasn’t made it for 7 years.

Yep, and it's more a teacher-student relationship between the two of them.

They're at completely different stages of their lives. They're not buddies who'll be out on the town with each other every weekend

I have not understood right from the start why we pulled out of negotiations with Perryman. Now that we hear that he is after more midfield time, and that he good mates with Cumming it makes even less sense.

We can definitely offer him more midfield opportunities, we should be able to offer better deals, and we have more off field opportunities to offer with the much bigger supporter base.

I understand Lukoscius with his Rozee connection and the train wreck that is their forward line, but with these 2 FA’s we should honestly be getting both.
How can we offer him mid time

Crouch (who was great when came back)
Dawson (legit A+)
Rankine (has sky high potential)
Soligio (looking great)
Berry (don't rate but coach love him)

Laird had to be even moved out to hbf

From the moment Cumming's manager told the media that his decision would be in line with Port's exit from finals I've felt like they had the edge.

Even though it was likely him just being thorough.

Hard to speculate from the media game. Even if he told his manager 3 months ago he wants to go to the crows, they'd likely keep playing the port interest all the way to the end to see if they can wring out an extra year or few more dollars.

It doesnt. If it did he would have chosen us by now. Cumming didnt just wake up and find he was a FA yesterday. We have been grooming him for years. Probably even using Tex to do it. Which is fine, clubs would use player friendships all the time to attract players. The fact he still chose to get a medical at Port suggests he trusts them to make finals and he doesnt trust us as a club. Remember, we got Dawson at 25yo, he is now 28 next year. If we dont play finals in the next two years he will be 30 by the end of Nicks next contract.

How can anyone trust us to not waste their career?

He might also want to look at who will be around him down back. With us its Murray, Keane and Worrell with Max and Hinge. Thats some pretty good talent to work in with. At Port, its Ratugolea, BZT, DBJ, Alir and Farrell. I know which group i'd rather have around me and it aint ports defenders

Or training and playing together for the next 10 years. Mostyns take on this is just bizarre
I mean, won't it at least help? You'd think at the very least Tex would volunteer to help out with the convincing process, given he's personable with him on some level

Whether it's effective or not who knows, but it's at least some kind of advantage for us

If. Cumming goes to port whoever
Is organising our strategy to secure trade targets should immediately resign. Port aren’t Collingwood. They don’t play on the MCG and have over 100k supporters We need to be able to secure the players we have been chasing for some time. Does our approach make the recruit feel as though they are really wanted. Why do they not choose us? Questions must be asked when we had clean air for some time to make our pitch and make it a lay down mazzaire they would choose us

The Crows have no club rooms, train at an abounded field, and haven’t played in finals for 7 years, …..this might have something to do with it.

That's not exactly a full midfield. Rankine is spending half of his time up forward, other than that there are only three quality midfielders there. And even Dawson is spending a bunch of time down back. Crouch looked good in the midfield but he's hardly beyond replacement.

Laird moved out because his combination with Crouch was and always has been awful.

There is a gaping hole in our midfield, and we should be prepared to offer a role for any quality players looking for more midfield time.

The Crows facilities are no different to what Port have at Alberton and we will also have the Thebarton facility within the first couple of years of his time here anyway.

If Cumming cared that much about actually winning finals then he would stay at the Giants (imagine Port trying to sell that after losing 5 of 6 finals by 10+ goals). It will largely come down to money and the role, it almost always does regardless of what players say publicly. The relationship with Tex and our longer interest in him are factors that give us a slight edge, but they won’t matter if Port end up paying him more.

And if Tex was a true friend he'd tell him not to come

Strongly disagree. It was soulless when the stadium existed , it is absolutely depressing now. Doesn’t even feel like it’s a footy club down at West Lakes now.

Who is Cumming's manager? Is it the guy who Hates the Crows and tries to get his players away from us all the time? Paul Conners? He has Alir and Wines at Port he's manager of but zero Crows players

There’s a difference between helping a little and Tex being blamed for not getting him. Luko and Rozee are top mates and will play together for 10 years. Port are a consistent finals team.

Tex will play for one more year. We haven’t played finals for 7 years.

There’s only so much Tex can say to try and sway him without looking like a dodgy used car salesman like his coach.

Can someone tell me more about him?

He obviously hasn't had opportunity due to the stacked midfield ahead of him in GWS.

But is he a Rankine prospect, or is he a Hampton prospect?
