I'd assume they'd move most of it to the new facility? Idk thoughWeird question:
When we move to Dingley as a base, do we know what the club will be doing with all of their gym equipment?
I know most professional organisations typically take this kind of opportunity as a chance to referb and to get everything new/state of the art.
I'd love to get some Hawks branded kit for my home gym!
Fond memories as a kid here. Loved the players photos all around the barWhen hawthorn was dealing with the old glenferrie social club, one option was to develop it into units.
The locals banded together and made it clear they would oppose anything. As a good citizen the club sold it to the conglomerate made up of locals….who built units on it anyway.
You can’t always get the value you expect

Edit I remembered wrong. One option was a medical centre…..across the road from a private hospital
I'd assume most of the stuff would just get moved over, same with other equipment and furniture.Weird question:

I'd say we are 100% on track for a full preseason there.Talk out of the club is that turf for the women’s oval will be laid in the coming weeks, with media and some fanfare as it’s a significant milestone for the build.
The project is flying along ahead of schedule and it’s looking like the men’s team will be there a lot sooner than was anticipated.
It can literally be ready in a week if everything is ready to go, basically if the irrigation system is ready, and the levels are all correct, you could lay the turf and start training on it the next week. The MCG famously only surfaced the oval the week of the opening round in 2023.I'd say we are 100% on track for a full preseason there.
Also it won't be long till the ovals are usable, and a lot of the surrounding driveways and paths are done.
I know there was a discussion about how long after turf is laid for the ground to be ready, but I was at "The Hanger" Essendon's ground on Tuesday and their oval that they will use for preseason training this year was all sand and dirt too.
A lot of the development from here will start looking slow as we move into internal walls and ceilings, doors, flooring, fitout, lighting and electrical etc...
Just further commentary on the ability to do things on the land.
Whilst we are in the green wedge, we have a specific control over the land which is good. The control does give us flexibility to do a bit more than would normally be allowed in the green wedge - noting that our permit now allows us to use the land for a shop, museum, and function centre (tied to Hawthorn).
If we wanted to do any more - I imagine anything else would need to have a nexus with the club.

No, that is incorrect. The MCG use ‘ready to play’ stabilised turf which enables the turf to be used straight away, very costly exercise. It can literally be ready in a week if everything is ready to go, basically if the irrigation system is ready, and the levels are all correct, you could lay the turf and start training on it the next week. I think I did. Two reasons there is a lot of history of us training at Waverley and like glenferrie oval we r going to leave that all behind. The premierships the great players the ground where we r the only ones to win a premiership on. It will be left behind. Why on Earth did somebody sad react this comment?? Haha
6 to 8 minutes to get to Waverley from where I work. 20+ minutes depending on trafficIt's only 5km further south..
Can’t be demolished easily, but certainly can be if they really want. It's heritage listed. Can't be demolished
Geez T4P talk about first world problems6 to 8 minutes to get to Waverley from where I work. 20+ minutes depending on traffic
Perhaps owns a residence overlooking Waverley! Why on Earth did somebody sad react this comment?? Haha
Yep mate lol 1st world problems. It means I spend nearly an hour travelling there and back which means I won't be able to make it most weeks. I have been doing it for so long I just took it for granted. I guess my run is overGeez T4P talk about first world problems
I do feel you on the history side of things though. I would've loved to have been able to get my hands on one of the old Waverly benches. Splinters and all.
I feel you mate as it's been well over 30+ years now since we moved to NSW. I grew up in Blackburn and I very much miss the days of heading down to Waverley to watch games back in the day. When we first migrated to Australia my parents used to work down the road from Glenferrie Oval which is how I fell in love with the club.Yep mate lol 1st world problems. So if they lay it as predicted sometime late this month, it'll be usable in Jan/Feb? I can't imagine the process is much different to what Essendon is doing currently with resurfacing (perhaps drainage work too). As of last Tuesday their main oval was all sand and dirt too. And they are expecting to be doing pre-season training there before Christmas. No, that is incorrect. Out at Dingley they will be laying standard couch grass rolls - which will need a couple of months to take root, grow in etc.
Thanks mate, I'm in the industry and have used both. My point was that if it was required that could be done. Last AFL team we resurfaced something for we closed it off for four weeks before they could use it during summer. No, that is incorrect. As the sun continues to shine a little longer each day, more and more work is being done on our future home at the Kennedy Community Centre this spring. As you can see in the images below, the erection of structural steel continues to take shape at the Harris Elite Training and Administration Facility (Harris ETAF), with the admin area mostly complete. Further steel installation has progressed with the indoor theatre, and excitingly commenced to the indoor training zone. Internal glass has been measured for the ground floor frames to go into place in the Harris ETAF, while the roofing contractor has commenced onsite. Over at the AFLW Oval and Community Pavilion, shear walls have been installed which will support future grandstand seating plans. Ensuring these steps are completed will lead to the next critical activity being the erection of structural steel. In the coming weeks, we will also see further work being done to prepare for the sand and turf to be laid down on both our ovals as we push into the warmer months. Meanwhile, our light towers will begin to be erected during the month of October, which is also a notable milestone in the project. |
With construction around 60% complete, we remain on track to make the move to Dingley during the second half of next year. As we have said all along, the Kennedy Community Centre will be a wonderful facility for both our men’s and women’s programs, but we still need your help to ensure our players have absolutely everything they need to compete for premierships, year after year. With our bold $5 million campaign shared with you all last month, I’m pleased to say there has been some early support, and we are incredibly grateful to all those who have donated to date. As part of our critical fundraising strategy, we are delighted to unveil our new legacy offerings, with the opportunity to etch your, your family’s or the name of a loved one into the landscape of the Kennedy Community Centre. For a tax-deductable donation, you can secure a dedicated plaque aligned to a tree or park bench to be honoured by all that pass through our new home at Dingley. Donations to this campaign will help the successful delivery of the Kennedy Community Centre, from state-of-the-art technology and equipment to cutting-edge recovery and education resources. Landscaping on site is well underway, with a number of trees already planted and park benches installed. Places are limited, so please do not hesitate if this is something you wish to secure.
