Current WAR CRIMES Israel - * ICC issues warrants for Israel's Benjamin Netanyahu & Yoav Gallant & for Hamas's Mohammed Deif

The ICC has also issued a warrant for Hamas leader Mohammed Deif, who Israel says they have killed.

According to the ICC, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that Deif was “responsible for the crimes against humanity of murder; extermination; torture; and rape and other form of sexual violence; as well as the war crimes of murder, cruel treatment, torture; taking hostages; outrages upon personal dignity; and rape and other form of sexual violence”.

It also said there were reasonable grounds to believe the crimes against humanity were “part of a widespread and systematic attack directed by Hamas and other armed groups against the civilian population of Israel”.

For Netanyahu and Gallant, who was replaced as defence minister earlier this month, the chamber “found reasonable grounds to believe” that they “each bear criminal responsibility for the following crimes as co-perpetrators for committing the acts jointly with others: the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts”.

It also found reasonable grounds to believe that “each bear criminal responsibility as civilian superiors for the war crime of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population”.

Hard to try Vach on war crimes when Israel doesn't recognise the ICC. Best we can do as a State and Global Citizens is BDS.
You don't need the ICC to try war crimes. They are most commonly tried in the domestic courts of the countries they belong to.

The ICC, the ICJ, the UN etc are all capitalist institutions.

Under capitalism, the nation state is sovereign - there is no supranational body which can impose its will on independent nation states - ie, the most powerful nation states.

In the post war period, the UN could function as a credible enforcer of "international rules" due to the hegemonic role of US imperialism as the ultimate arbitor which all countries had no choice but to fall in line with, due to domination of world economy by US corporations and finance.

That period has long since gone. The UN was exposed as utterly toothless in the war against Irak in 2003, when the greatest anti war protests ever swept the globe. Pro capitalist political tendencies, claiming to be "left", spread the lie that the UN would prevent war.

Fast forward to now. Once again, the UN, the ICJ etc are seen for what they are. They have absolutely no capacity to enforce any kind of restraint on genocide, ethnic cleansing, etc.

And the courts in every country are becoming ever more integrated into the capitalist state itself. This is the meaning of the turn to authoritarianism which we are witnessing at the moment across the US, Canada, and Europe.

No contemporary court in any nation will hold its own war criminals to account - unless it is defeated militarily, and then we have the disgusting scene of war criminals holding other war criminals to account.

You can guarantee that if Putin went to Washington DC to address the US Congress, like Netanyahu did, he would have been arrested as a war criminal.

Let's see if he'd be prepared to try it on under Trump.

Interesting point.

But not the main one. The main one I am making is that there will be no justice for war any war criminals under capitalism and its institutions.

Genuine justice will only be delivered after the world socialist revolution, when the international working class has seized political power and holds all of the war criminals to account.

I'm certain Nuttin' Yahoo will be tried for war crimes in Israel.

Netanyahu will have many enemies. He's already defending old corruption charges and Israeli judges aren't afraid to imprison their prime ministers.

There's also several Arab judges presiding over courts in Israel, including a Supreme Court Justice.

Police investigating alleged Islamophobic and anti-Semitic incidents in Melbourne

Police are investigating separate incidents of alleged Islamophobia and anti-Semitism on the streets of Melbourne this week.

A truck belonging to a Melbourne man of Palestinian heritage was burned, with a witness reporting he also saw a man yelling Islamophobic statements.

Separately, up to 20 people gathered on the steps of state parliament on Friday evening with an anti-Semitic sign.

I don't understand why the police have condemned somebody displaying a sign but not an arson attack on a vehicle.

They have, they're investigating both incidents.

They have, they're investigating both incidents.
Anti-semitic incident
"Victoria Police vehemently condemns anti-Semitic or racially motivated behaviour in our society and will not tolerate this kind of activity," a police spokesperson said.
compared to the Islamaphobic incident
ICV spokesperson Adel Salman said the council was "quite surprised" that police did not put out a public media release about the incident.

"We would have expected there would have been an announcement expressing concern, expressing condemnation … but it's been radio silence," he said.

Victoria Police did not respond to a question about Mr Salman's concerns.
Why is it so hard to call out both?

Yet more examples of Palestinians being attacked by Hamas for taking aid in Gaza.

Seems Hamas is holding aid hostage, attacking anyone who dare help themselves to aid for themselves and their families.

Not defending Hamas but that is a long bow you're drawing. Were they wearing Hamas badges? We know there's gangs stealing aid that aren't affiliated with Hamas.

So where were you going with it?
Why does it have to go anywhere, just pointing out the difference.

It's not just a police thing, it's media, politics and public in general.

You found it funny when I mentioned it last time and here we are again. If you find nothing wrong, that's ok you're not alone sadly.
