Wow they were talking about Monday night football even then? Did it get off the ground in the 80s? Regular Monday night games in Perth would have been a shambles... What, a 5:30 start? Nobody would have been able to get there from work!

Then of course both teams would have travel combined with a maximum 6 day break.

Yeah, players coming back from injuries often ran the messages for the twos. Llane was recovering from shoulder surgery.

I can't speak for the Fitzroy side of things but I'd recommend picking up the old Brisbane Bears/Lions season guides up to 2003 when Peter Blucher leaves the club (the content gets weaker until the club stops producing them in the early 2010s) if you're keen to know some more about players at the time. There's usually a decent sized written piece/interview on pretty much every player on the list and because it's a different time, the content tends to be pretty interesting and in a loose style. I do still remember when Luke Power said in one of those pieces that he wanted to play more midfield time after one of his excellent forward seasons and I was like, pfft, like that would ever happen...

excuse the bump but if these are what i'm thinking about, my dad worked (well still works) for the printing factory that made these (pretty sure that at a point they also had a corporate box at the gabba - might still do?) and he'd always bring home some spares for me and my sister to look through, being a footy family up here in qld (even through we're doggies fans ). unfortunately most of them are missing the covers and a few pages but besides that still reasonably intact.
