Not really. It's run by AFL Victoria. Yes, that's a subsidiary of the AFL but it's a separate entity. You're looking for something that isn't there.

Not quite that bad.
AFL took over the VFL from AFL Victoria in 2021.

AFL runs the competition now, not AFL Vic.

Ah, was unaware of that.

Still, looking at the tribunal decisions over the past couple of years it's still the same.

This is going to make a few in here very happy

Skrobalak will be at Port Melbourne for another year

Port Melbourne about to implode again...with Skrobalaks reappointment many players tipped to walk.

Ethan Phillips, who is pretty much their most important player I expect will walk. Was not given ONE VFL coaches award vote for the whole year.

A lot of the player parents at their last game of the season at DSV were grouped together disgruntled about how the football department staff have been treating their players this year. Typical

Port could reinvent themselves by helping Albert Park AFC rise through the VAFA ranks to (say C Grade), then amalgamate with them and hopefully become a successful Premier club in the respected VAFA.

Why would they want to do that ?

Please DON'T EVER put those clubs together The Borough is one of the great footy clubs in the history of aussie rules , the other is a pathetic footy club from the ANZ Bank ! this is insulting

ANZ Bank FC if you please. Changed its name in 1970 as the ANZ Bank threatened their own football club's namesake with litigation should the bank's name be tarnished.
State Savings Bank of Victoria FC, latterly State Bank FC was strong and well respected, playing in A Grade for years. They are now represented as one of the clubs that reinvigorated Prahran.

Alright enough of the dribble lets continue to talk about the VFL as we know it, not about ammo club name history.

Bedders and Mega.

I’m certainly not denigrating the Borough as every football follower in King William IV’s Town doesn’t want to see any former VFA club disintegrate. When Willy was struggling and the VFL wanted to amalgamate Willy with Werribee, most ‘Towners supporters agreed that we should jump onto and follow Port. (Similar background and culture – Pirates, pubs, fights etc..)

Prior to being rebadged there had been over 30 clubs represented in the VFA (that I can remember), and there are only 6 left as standalones.

Our proud unconnected former VFA clubs are going nowhere in a competition going nowhere.

Such a move would be an insurance policy (for Port), amalgamate, change name to Port Melbourne, play at Port, and become a successful club in a successful organisation without starting in F Grade. (viz Prahran and Fitzroy)

It’s only a thought.

You say our proud vfa clubs are going nowhere (not sure where they should be going) and the solution to your perceived problem is to take them out of the best football competition (other than the AFL) and put them into a competition with far less interest and a significantly lower standard?? A step in the wrong direction ild say.

I don't think many of the 1,000 + Port Melbourne members would be applauding such a proposal and should we ever have the misfortune of falling so far from grace that we have to play in the VAFA it'll be the death of the club, we would struggle to get 100 members even from season one.

With the reappointment as well as members it might be hard getting players

Disgraceful victorian bias. The VFL should hold their heads in absolute shame #justiceforjimmy
The Vic bias was on full display tonight with the no calls GWS were getting against Collingwood (how was that not high contact!?!?). Now it's time for Queensland to step up and stick it right up the Vics by having Brisbane eliminate Carlton tomorrow, the Suns beat Werribee in the VFL GF on Sunday and the Lions take down the Pies in the AFL GF next week. Let's go!

Keep an eye on 16 year old Leonardo Lombard in this VFL GF. He has an opportunity to really stamp his name as a likely top 10 prospect next year if he plays well in this GF.
