I was bummed when they took the good stuff out of those day & night flu tabs - nowadays the ingredients read like a forager's list of botanicals.
Agreed, the original codral cold and flu tabs were so good that no matter how bad you felt they had something in them that gave you a boost in minutes.

Similarly with the original Sudafed, it also worked very well but it contained a drug that could be sold for multiple times more than the product cost at the chemist resulting in the manufacturer having to delete that ingredient from the `recipe,' and by comparison both those medications are now about as effective as eating a packet of smarties.

Re Sudafed, I was told by an industrial chemist back in the late 90's that a pallet which had a retail value back then of approx 30k could be turned into a drug with a street value of more than 150k.

Jeezus when are we gonna lift the ban on places like Aldi selling grog in Adelaide.. fukcin come on

No supermarket chain can sell liquor in their supermarkets. Something that won't change anytime soon thanks to the political clout of the Hotel Pokie Barons operating under the SA Australian Hotel Association banner.

Coles and Woolworths get around it with their stand alone Dan Murphys/BWS and Liquorland stores. But that's a fraud. When you go to the Coles at West Lakes or other shopping centres there's often their partner liquor store right next door and they are required to keep the door that goes between their 2 shops closed to customers.

Of course you can order grog as part of your online order from Coles if the store you're picking up from has a Liquorland next door. the irony being you pick up the order, including grog, from the Coles checkout.

It doesn't suit Aldi or Costco's global business model to open separate liquor stores with separate staffing etc. So SA customers miss out on some of the great specials they have in other states.

Aldi has repeatedly petitioned the SA Government to allow it to sell grog in its SA stores and each time the Hotels Association has objected.

Aldi's most recent application said this: “Liquor is currently available from selected ALDI stores in NSW, ACT, WA and Vic and our goal is to bring this same convenience, efficiency and quality range to shoppers in South Australia.”

The SA Branch of the Australian Hotels Association of course, lodged a formal objection to ALDI’s application and it was rejected.

Don't expect either the SA Liberals or SA Labor to change their position on this anytime soon. They're both too reliant on the financial and campaign support of the pokie barons to promote greater competition when it comes to liquor sales.

TL;DR?

It's a protectionist scam.

A pack of darts and a can of beer at the local shop cost less than 5.50 euro in Greece. So like 9 bucks. The tax here is ****ing out of control.
It's all a con job as well smoking has declined massively due to the health awareness campaigns in the last gazillion years, but they don't want to lose that cash stream so the answer is obviously to hike it so the lifetime rusted on smokers pick up the slack it's nothing to do with preserving anyones health or the burden on the health industry it's fiction.

The Sudafed Nasal Detongestant little round pills still work alright, but that's the only cold and flu pills I've found that work in any way.

We should probably leave the AFL and merge with one of these tealster BBL sides it's about our level.
We would totally have a captian called "D'arcy"
