The song Cornes wanted was No Second Prize a song written by Barnes and rejected by Cold Chisel which he later used on a solo album, as for Working Class Man it was written by the keyboardist from Journey and never performed by Cold Chisel it was a Barnes solo single & also used in a Ron Howard movie around the same time.

I'm a music nuffie and I will destroy you.
Happy to admit you win that round for sure.

But I'll be back.

Australia's greatest satirical cartoonist Michael Leunig died yesterday.

Had a photocopy of this work of his from the cover of the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band 1974 Album Wangaratta Wahine stuck in the pin up board over my first desk in my first job. Never listened to the album, just liked the cover.

Standards of acceptable workplace behaviour in Australia were different in the 80s.

He molested his sister and did some dogshit anti marriage equality cartoons. **** him

Dutton can do one. I’m talking about the concept of nuclear in general.

They’ve been playing the “we have to save the planet no matter the cost!… no, not like that!” card for decades.

The chucklefcuks at the LNP have just given them an actual figurehead to unite against that isn’t ‘BuT ChErNoByL’.
Chernobyl is the best thing to happen to the environment lol it was only bad for people

On a lighter note, this pic popped up in the Richmond thread and googling I found that it's a thing - sold in the UK of course.

Comes with the marketing tag:

'The ultimate combination of tasty and refreshing. Fosters Proper Shandy is perfectly balanced with zesty and fruity lemon notes, accompanied by a smooth beer aftertaste. Enjoy chilled.'

Given the Fosters brand is not that popular here I assume CUB wouldn't sell an alcopop under the Fosters 'shandy' label either. Just the name 'shandy' brings up horrible images of tap beer watered down with lemonade - but maybe that's an Australian thing for anyone mid 50s and over?

So along with my Hugo Boss and Abercrombie & Fitch stuff I have to throw out my old Leunig books too, huh?

And toss out any boxes of those popular decongestant medications like Codral Day and Night, Sudafed PE and Benedryl PE you might have in your bathroom cupboard while you're at it. Turns out they have been found to be a huge waste of money and do close to f-all in relieving symptoms.

An Australian law firm has filed a class action against Johnson & Johnson accusing it of selling medicines known to be ineffective.

Can't even begin to estimate the amount of money our family have spent on those products over the years whenever someone had a stuffy nose and headache. Turns out a couple of panadol would have been more effective.

Felt the same way when the FBI arrested Pete Townshend on child pornography charges back in 2003.

Millions of Who fans across the globe breathed a collective sigh of relief when, after a 5 month investigation, he was finally cleared of possessing or accessing child pr0n. Although the FBI did issue him with an official caution for accessing a website in 1999 where images of child abuse were also kept.

Yea I think his 'explanation' was something to do with 'researching' the topic.

Opens a whole bag of worms this stuff though do we think The Beatles, Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zep etc. etc. were ID checking all the female fans & groupies they were banging back in the day? highly unlikely and there's stories.

Sudafed sinus is good shit I will stand by it, even if it's a placebo, who cares if it works.

Jimmy Page's dalliance with 14 year old Lori Mattix is troublesome.

Drinking .90€ radlers from Aldi on the river in Berlin was the happiest I've been in my life

A few years ago Rolling Stone magazine released a souvenir edition of their January 1971 edition featuring a long interview with John Lennon. Your comment reminded me of this paragraph of him talking about life on the road in the 60s and why there was never a 'real' biography printed about what went on in those days:

'There was nothing about orgies and the shit that happened on tour. I wanted a real book to come out, but we all had wives and didn’t want to hurt their feelings. End of that one. Because they still have wives.'

'The Beatles tours were like the Fellini film Satyricon. We had that image. Man, our tours were like something else, if you could get on our tours, you were in. They were Satyricon, all right.'

'Wherever we went, there was always a whole scene going, we had our four separate bedrooms. We tried to keep them out of our room. Derek’s and Neil’s rooms were always full of junk and whores and who-the-****-knows-what, and policemen with it. Satyricon! We had to do something. What do you do when the pill doesn’t wear off and it’s time to go? I used to be up all night with Derek, whether there was anybody there or not, I could never sleep, such a heavy scene it was. They didn’t call them groupies then, they called it something else and if we couldn’t get groupies, we would have whores and everything, whatever was going.'

'Derek (Taylor) and Neil (Aspinall) , that was their job, and Mal (Evans), but I’m not going into all that. When we hit town, we hit it. There was no pissing about. There’s photographs of me crawling about in Amsterdam on my knees coming out of whore houses and things like that. The police escorted me to the places, because they never wanted a big scandal, you see.'

As you say, there's a high chance that some under aged sex took place during all that - especially given all the drugs that, especially, John was taking at the time.

And this was the 60s he's talking about. The stories that would come from the big groups and performers of the 70s would have been even worse.

I was bummed when they took the good stuff out of those day & night flu tabs - nowadays the ingredients read like a forager's list of botanicals.
