I had to google Dupont because I thought it was a tin of paint not a french rugby player.
I thought it was some hamlet where a battle happened in world war 2.

Dont care. If he manages to get nuclear power over the line he can create/delete/merge as many flags as he wants.

If he gets in, which I'm pretty certain he will at this point, I'd be surprised if I saw nuclear up and running in oz in my lifetime. It'll end up like the NBN or the non existent carparks.

Isn't the whole point of his nuclear plan to have an excuse to keep funnelling Government money to coal and gas providers as a stop-gap measure while the nuclear plan is forever in development...

Regardless of the economic viability, I've worked at two of Aus's largest and most capable energy companies, and I just don't trust the Australian Energy sector to safely operate and maintain a Nuclear Power Plant.

We do not have the culture in this country to run a Nuclear Plant in the manner in which it needs to be run. There have been so many major incidents that would have occurred, but for nothing more than dumb luck.

Far too many.

Sounds like the basis for some fiction....

I mean it has been shown to be economically unviable since the first time it was put forward. Even back then it would have needed a carbon price to be competitive and it has only gotten worse.

When the Libs can't even get their paid for viability study to include the effect it will have on the price of electricity, you know it is bad.

I do have a mostly drafted novel where the trigger is an industrial accident, but it's set in the Pilbara on a gas plant.

I would love to work on a nuclear plant, but **** me, we just run things to failure because it's cheaper right now (never mind in a few years time when the manager has moved on with their nice fat bonus for cutting OPEX spend on the thing that just blew up).

And don't get me started on the lack of understanding around the requirements of functional safety design. Jebus.
