Showed a real bag of tricks in his early games, but his last two seasons have been awful. Would like the Pies to look at him if he’s dirt cheap but I suspect he’ll end up at Fremantle like every other washed up Western Australian tip draft pick

I haven't seen enough of him to comment. You see him playing as a small forward/defender?

Sounds like he’s staying in qld.

Talented, but has been riddled with injury.

Not sure where to put this, but this seems like the most appropriate spot. How would people like this list going into 2020?:

Pick 51???
Pick 64Brody Mihocek
Pick 69Max Lynch
Rookie Cat AFlynn Appleby
Rookie Cat ATim Broomhead
Rookie Cat AJack Madgen
Rookie Cat ASam Murray
Rookie Cat AJohn Noble
Rookie Cat A???
Rookie Cat BMark Keane
Rookie Cat BAnton Tohill
Rookie Cat BTom Wilson

Retire/delist/trade - Wells, Dunn, Goldsack, Greenwood

Re-sign - Varcoe (1 year), Reid (1 year), Elliott (3 years), Wills (2 years), Crocker (1 year), Sier (2 years), Lynch (2 years, Senior List upgrade), Madgen (1 year, Rookie List), Broomhead (1 year, Rookie List), Noble (1 year, Rookie List), Murray (1 year, Rookie List)

Rookie List upgrades - Mihocek (Pick #64, National Draft), Lynch (Pick #69, National Draft)

In this, it's a choice between Varcoe, Reid and Greenwood, with Greenwood not being recontracted. Just feel like the former two have more value and are less replaceable going forward.

People might see the retention/resigning of some of those blokes as controversial, and the lack of draft picks and new talent potentially coming in as stagnation. However, I'd like to see us somewhat "stay put" for a year (particularly with out younger players), and try and wring as much as possible out of the guys we've got. This also gives us a number of potential delistees at the end of 2020, when we have further National Draft picks available that we will need to accommodate for.

Don't think Varcs, Reid or Crock get another gig... and the Pig has probably played himself into another year... I love how you've set it out though, looks good, just needs Jezza Cameron there somewhere

Can’t fathom how you could possibly retain Reid who’s cooked, and Varcoe, who’s form has been inconsistent at best, over Greenwood, who’s had close to a career best year after reinventing himself as a small defender...

Moreso keeping the blokes I am from a balance, replaceability and depth perspective. Not totally sold on keeping them TBH. Happy for Greenwood to stay instead of Varcoe (still think he has a bit of value), Reid and Crocker, too.

Something else - Are Noble and Murray already classified as Senior List players? Would we need to do the de-list/re-rookie to Rookie List them? Are people happy for them to take a Senior List spot each (instead of Varcoe, Reid, Crocker)?

Also, how do people feel about giving Broomhead another year on the Rookie List?

Suns do currently have pick 17 (formerly Bris). Would be nice to get that pick back...but doubt they pay that for Sier and/or Thomas
They paid pick 2 for Lachie Weller. You can only ask I suppose. If they get a sniff any any players actually wanting to go there, you never know what they might offer up

They’ll have a stack of draft picks to get rid of by the time trade week is over. If we want to get back into this draft, they would be where I would start.

Murray and Noble are both rookie listed. Happy for Noble, I think he’ll be a very good player, not Murray. He needs to earn his way back like Thomas did if the club decides to retain him.
No issue with Broomhead being rookied, but I have a feeling his papers have been stamped.

Yeah it's not just Casboult...there's also the likes of Jenkins, Hartley, Henderson, Roberts, etc out of contract and could come in and perform a role. And likewise more expensive types like Keath and B McKay who may be gettable.

I'm hoping to see us take another 1-2 mature KPP

Jenkins is on $600k for two years - he's a more expensive option even if Adelaide chip in for some of his salary next year.

Keath would be your win now option, but he'd push one of Howe or Langdon /Scharenberg out being more of an intercepting type himself, assuming that Roughead will still be a staple as a man-up defender. He may also cost something in the order of $500k+, given the competition for his services.

McKay would be your cheaper / longer term prospect but we currently don't have the assets to trade for him, as the Kangaroos will still likely expect an early 2nd rounder (which wouldn't be unreasonable for a 21 year old 202cm / 100kg KPP who is still developing). At his size if he has even some of his brother's mobility then I'd also look at him potentially as a forward.

I wouldn't think you would delist someone like Eddie. Maybe help him finish his career elsewhere it it was mutual, but damn.
IIRC, Betts was one of the ones furious about the Pre-season camp antics. Maybe he never got over it and its is as you say somewhat mutual

Betts?

Bets leads to problems, just ask Jaidyn.

(Too soon? I’ll see myself out :D)
