Jordan Snadden (2/8/1997. 190cm, 79kg. East Fremantle)

Medium midfielder

AFL biography: Quick medium midfielder who plays with aggression, particularly in contested situations when the ball is there to be won. Uses his speed to break away from stoppages, putting a gap on his opponents before disposing of the ball. AFL Academy member.

"Jordan has explosive pace. He can break lines and he has a penetrating kick. He plays outside the game at this stage, and he's a quiet, diligent worker. With a bit of self confidence he could really be the surprise packet at this year's draft."

Raff Guadagnino, WA talent manager

It's funny that 190cm is considered a 'medium midfielder' these days aha. looks a good pickup athletically, and another leftie to boot. Just needs to work on his disposal a little from what I could gather from the 2 minutes of highlights I watched.

So, Newman's career officially came to an end.

It's strange he ended on such a quiet note considering how much drama his career has had.
Not necessarily. If he can put in a couple of good years in the WAFL and keep his nose clean, he will get drafted for sure. Teams take way more mature aged players these days.

He's reportedly moving east to play in the VFL

Feeling rather meh about the rookie draft.

Tunbridge - clogger and has had more than enough time to prove himself. Forget being unlucky in 2015 - thick as two short planks
Colledge - another that has had his turn. Pity we could not get him a gig elsewhere but when Essendon don't think he will improve their list - need I say more. Would have preferred to pay him out and give him a chance at another WAFL club to show his stuff for a 2016 mature pick up
Waterman - good move and we will need to be patient
Snadden - Ok. Did not see either his reputed speed or penetrating kick in the U18 carnival. Low expectations on this one.

Would liked to have see us pick Parsons, Surman, Shaw or Clarke instead.

Those couple of games from Newman around round 16-18 area? Memory sketchy. He must have been a last chance of sorts. Given a minimum performance requirement...

So we have 5 rookies - do I assume then that we have 1 free senior spot available and that we can elevate to the main playing list any of the 5 players that may be striking form?
Suggest Hotline is more likely to get elevated!

Farren Ray gets to continue his minnow tour :

Footscray
St Kilda
North
I really don't get the Ray selection, he's a bit young for North's list profile.

Did he ever 'kill' it in the wafl?

I really don't want to get into this same debate again. I wouldn't say he killed it. I would say he had flashes of dominance. He's a very damaging player and he showed this every time he got the ball in the WAFL. After all he does play a position where it is difficult to stat pad. I think it was a mistake to delist him as I'd have had him in our top 25-30.

But alas, it's over so I wish him all the best.

Wouldve left Colledge 'til last in the hope someone else took him.
Very surprised by this, why pick him up 2nd esp after he wanted out? Hardly gave the other teams a shot of poaching him.
Happy for Davis, he wasn't the worst player for us, always tried his best, etc, also was good for him to stay in the WAFL despite being from NSW.

I guess if we traded him we would be terminating his contract, whereas if someone else rookied him we would be breaching his contract? Not sure.

Think we told him to look for a trade rather than the other way around.

Wasn't Alec also under contract? Could've at least have taken him first. I guess it doesn't really matter, Brant and Tunners will probably be gone in a year.
Doesn't explain why we took Tunners instead of a speculative ruckman like Shaw or Cameron, Allen certainly won't cover it.

True. I have no idea. I guess it's one of those intangible things
