I love that we suddenly have far greater half forward/wing options that have a bit of size about them.

West did well this season but he was often playing a role asked of a taller man (defensively stopping in the air). Macrae was often asked to play forward because he has size, even if that's not his natural position. McNeil and Vandermeer among their many weaknesses just can't use their body like other players do.

We'll be a much stronger and taller team around the park next year, espeically in outside contests around the ground.

Do you mean that he'll do Dumb Things, Before too Long?
(Bah, that was terrible 😞)
At least we'll know who is going to make the gravy

I think I could live with Jamarra leaving. A bit like how I felt with English and Smith. As long as we get decent quid in return.
I have no doubt if he left and he turned into a bigger star then he is now you would regret it and u would then be absolutely yelling at the club for not getting enough for him he is 22 and kicked 43 goals he has so much superstar potential and just reading some fans opinions on him Saying he is not good needs to open there eyes .

Or it could be saying Jammara could turn selfish or jealous and force his way out to be the number 1 option. Hopefully it’s not the case. But we really need to train them to stop running into each other.
True, they could mean that too.

Either way I really hope he's a Bulldog for life. I didn't like his finger pointing and teammate spraying earlier in the year but hope that's just a minor blip as we all have along the way.

My view is that our KPFs, more specifically Jamarra and Naughton, need to take on this responsibility. They are capable of taking some great grabs but also regularly get worked under the ball allowing their direct opponent to intercept.

The Hawks had Frost (194cm), Scrimshaw (194cm) and Sicily (188cm) going up against our tall brigade and took a pile of marks and had a lot of the ball generally. We shouldn't be needing a West, or now Davidson, type to be occupying an opposition KPD in that scenario.

I've hammered this point all off season.

Excess of kpf. Let's cash in.

It's just basic list management.
The problem with this approach is that the only way you can 'cash in' when a very good or above player leaves your club is if it occurs under free agency and you recieve compensation.

If the Bailey Smith situation has reinforced anything its that the current system of out of contract player movement, outside of free agency, is dictated almost entirely by the player and the club is just a passenger in the process.

You simply can't get fair compensation, let alone cash in, when a very good or above out of contract player leaves your club.

Because no one ever gets injured? So we happen to have a few quality KPF so we should sell one off to make another club stronger with a player showing star potential and as a KPF is still only 22

We paid the Pick 1 price for and it's not like we can convert that into trading in a gun young mid plus extra. So we would be trading for the unknown magic beans of the draft.

So I guess the real question is do we just want to be seen as a finishing school for talent before they move onto bigger and better clubs. Or a club that figures out a way to make it work. I know which way is going to be better for us down the track

Good points.

Now in hindsight, do you think he is a number 1 pick talent (ignoring the circumstances we got him through NGA etc)

I do and think he'd go pick 1 if entered the draft (assuming the team with pick 1 needs a KPF). Tracking beautifully for a young KPF imo. If his set shots were more accurate there'd be zero question. And I think he'll correct that as he is very skilful.

Any updates on how Brew is going?
i was driving back from Gippsland when the big storm hit on Wednesday

I thought i had to pull over due to how powerful the rain was

Until i noticed my car was being pulled by someone

God damn Brew got me outta there

We can save a lot of cap space by getting rid of guys like Jamarra and replacing them with hard workers like brew. Then we can use the cap space to get more good players in.
What are we saving our cap for? We had enough to make an offer to Barrass, he said no, and we just traded out Macrae, Judas and Daniel.
How much more spare cap do we need?

Getting rid of Jamarra would be madness unless we are getting ready to go A grade talent back the other way. Use Brissy as an example, unless they send back McCluggage and draft capital what use if more picks when we need to win right now?

You would think that another pre-season of Naughton/Jamarra/Darcy will help the cohesive of the forward line, especially with Lobby entrentched down back. We got bits and pieces of what the ideal set-up looks like on those rare occassions they are all out there together, Naughton pushing up the ground, Jamarra roaming the 50m arc and Darcy the deepest forward.

Also with the very likelihood of injuries across the year you really do need all of them.

The belief that our forward line was too top-heavy or played poorly just seems wrong to me. All of our forwards had good seasons, we kicked a lot of big scores, and the biggest concern with Jamarra is both his own goalkicking accuracy and his decision making with time with ball in hand, both of which have nothing to do with the structure or tallness of our forward line.
