OUT: O'Driscoll, Bedendo, Smith, Macrae, Daniel, Clarke, Keath, Rypstra (rookie)
IN: M.Kennedy, Hynes, Jaques, Dolan, Davidson, L.Kennedy

Our list balance is currently 36 main list + 5 Cat A rookies (Duryea, Baker, Bramble, Poulter, McNeil) + 1 Cat B rookie (O'Donnell). The list rules are 36-38 main list, 4-6 Cat A rookies (to a combined 42 players), and 0-2 Cat B rookies.

Based on that, we have a single Cat A rookie spot to fill as well as a Cat B rookie position open. That Cat A spot can be filled at tomorrow's rookie draft, the SSP, or next season's mid-season draft.

Can't count both O'driscoll and Rypstra as Rypstra took his place.

Would’ve loved that North future first to try and get Callaghan..

Yeah it's hard to be too critical and probably annoying to keep harping on it, but take away Hynes and add North's top 5 pick next year to chase a Finn or Butters etc (or take to the draft), and then add another guy in this draft late like Leidler, Ivisic, Stumpf etc with that list spot and it would have been amazing work.

I think list managers and the draft team just get so infatuated with their 1st round talents they have watched and tracked all year and are so keen to nab them, that it's too hard to give up that pick and push it back 12 months.

Chance we get one of those guys tomorrow

So we have 2 list spots (42/44 total players) left but only 1 Category A rookie spot left?

Assuming one player is picked tomorrow does that mean we are capped? The only extra player we can potentially bring in after is a Cat B rookie

I think so.

Just one Cat A rookie spot left.

Few good players still on the board so hopefully we do pick

I'd be surprised if we used the pick in the rookie draft. Think we're more likely to hold the spot open for the SSP.

For those who understand the system better than me, Craig Cooper Peters was on our NGA list a while back. Is he still eligible to be taken as a Cat B rookie?
Only eligible within two years of his draft class

He's been in our VFL system for 4 years now so we need to draft him normally

Can't forget we had give up a F2 in that offer too. So whilst we'd have North's F1 and our F1 we would have no other picks. No 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick (and no Hynes).

Infatuation or good list management?

Our list is desperate for young mids. It would be a strange decision delaying improving that area for another year considering the age demographic of our current midfield group.

Would be borderline negligent.

All depends on how Hynes pans out and what that North pick could get next year. Will be an interesting watch.

The general commentary was that we got reamed on the Baz deal and there is an argument that can be made.

The net result though is Baz and pick 45 out, Matthew Kennedy, Cooper Hynes and a chunk of cap in.

MK and CH come across as solid citizens who love a scrap and have their teammates back.

I'll bet very few in our dressing room are feeling like we are worse off.

I suspect in a few years time we will be looking back fondly.

There are some things you can't measure as well.

Narcissists tend to suck the life out of any environment they're in. Work, group of friends having a drink at a pub, a footy club.

Solid, selfless, team (and club) first citizens will do me.

Also depends what the offer was if it was with F2 going back I wouldn't have done it
It was.

Hard to say one way or the other unless you’re across the 2025 draft crop, I’m not.
The draft next year is extremely compromised (more so then usual) probably another reason we had a few more picks last night on previous years. I think next year we will see quiet a few overagers/late developers being taken.

Every year things change though. A lot of quality talls and flankers available this year, despite people touting this one as mid-heavy a long way out.
