Annoys me that we keep going Footscray players. FFS look elsewhere.
Im not going to claim that I was clamouring for his recruitment pre draft, or that I wouldn't have moaned if we drafted him. Given in isolation he seems your typical over age tweener from outside the traditional pathways. Indeed I had no idea who he was until the draft.

But I guess it's just one of multitude of sliding doors moments that arise when recruiters and the list management teams sit down and make their final decisions.

You win some, you lose some.

We lost this one.

Hindsight, like cocaine is a hell of a drug.

I mentioned him way back in Nov last year as a likely type to fill our small forward need. He played a very classy game against our Footscray VFL side that year. The problem was, of course, once we had drafted Sanders and Croft our next pick was 45 and Geelong, which had obviously been keeping an eye on him, snatched him with pick 36.
To be fair, VFL players are not usually drafted as high as pick 36 but Geelong were right on the money with his value.
Disappointing for us but at least our next pick, Freijah, has turned out to be a gem.

Geelong annoyed me by taking him at 36, then they annoyed me by barely playing him until the 2nd half of the season, since then he’s been killing it.

We had no trouble beating GWS and Geelong, the issue we had this season is beating teams with pace.

Losses against Hawks, Port and Lions showcased this fully.

We either need to get some faster outside mids that can break open the game or at the very least get some players with speed that can run with those faster mids/high half forwards.
How about having a forward structure that maximises our inside fifties

Call me salty but it would be pretty funny to watch Dunkley lose his 3rd Grand Final.

Even funnier when the context is he went to that club to be the Number 1 Midfielder and now he's just a tagger (aka Failed Midfielder à la Kane Cornes).
With another Ashcroft and Marshall coming in they're going to have a seriously good midfield.

What do we realistically need from the off season in order to be a better regular season team than Port, GWS or Geelong?
Psychologist and goal kicking guru for Marra.

Speed. So you can use the corridor sometimes.

I think your list is awesome overall.

You’re shitting me if he leaves our midfield to go to Geelong or Port for more opportunity hahah
He'll get more opportunity at port or Geelong. Drew, Butters, Rozee, Wines, JHF then daylight. Need more than 5 mids I think. a group A & B, group A to as the main 3 Wines Butters Rozee group B to rotate in when they need to rest. He also ads a bit of difference to the group.

Geelong has Dangerfield that they're trying to move forward for his body's sake. Smith, Atkins, Bruhn, Mannagh & Holmes who they want in the half back over midfield. Cam Guthrie is cooked and Parfitt is too.

He'll get his most opportunities at the eagles imo. Reid, Yeo, Kelly, Sheed, Culley. Edwards who is close to medical retirement. They preffer Ginbey at half back over midfield at atm. Hewitt is struggling to break in.
