Not brilliant, not terrible. Certainly enough to trade into the teens if someone we like drops down and should at least get a decent player or two with that hand in the draft. Still heavily relying on what we did last year really where as Gold Coast/Freo/Carlton/Melbourne are bringing in some big guns.

Sammy gets a c minus with a full B minus upgrade because AFL House rigged the deck.

Kinda ironic he had a typo in a post to clear up what picks we have 😆

The biggest lessons I hope everyone takes from this are:
1. Big Footy "insiders" are always full of shit.
2. fake tough talk from fans is always hilarious
3. threats. sending messages and reputation mean jack shit to clubs during trade week.

Trade Radio is hilarious. Talk about absolutely nothing for a week and a half and now that there was a flurry of moves in the last hour to discuss and trades still being made official etc it's finished and they are off air?

I wish Jack and Caleb all the best at their new clubs and hope the Saints and Norf fans treat them well. They contributed to some exciting years of footy for the team.

As far as that other one goes, he can get ******.

Is it in summary

In 17 25 Kennedy
For
Smith Daniel and Macrae (2 All Aust and premiership players)

We already had a pick in 30s so that doesn’t count

We really didn’t have any leverage whatsoever in the Bailey Smith situation, and the minor pick upgrade to get Kennedy over the line really is about as much as you could hope for.

You can be the best wheeler dealer in the world but without leverage you’re f**ked in any negotiation. Anyone who thinks they could have done better is delusional.

However you wanna look at it, losing the quality of players we have in the last couple years is alarming - Smith, Macrae, Daniel, Dunkley. And not the best return on most of them either

Dunkley - Wanted more inside mid opportunity

Macrae - Past his peak

Daniel - Past his peak

Smith - A dickhead

Hardly that alarming imo

Smith and Dunkley, yes. It remains to be seen whether Smith can ever be at his 2021 finals level though.

It's easy to forget that Daniel and Macrae are not the players they once were - which is fine, but when their contracts are at the level of their peak, it's not a bad thing to move them on as much as it sucks to lose them. Macrae has performed poorly relative to when he signed his contract for the past 2.5 seasons, and Daniel pretty close to the same.
