Then hopefully the big Duff slips to pick 2 this year...
Just tell whichever cronies in Austins team you have connections with to trade out some of these overpaid hacks to get Rory Wright and Josh Lindsay in the door. Don't think I can watch too many more seasons without 1 elite kick on the list capable of rolling up the field.

I'll pass that on, maybe we can make play for the kid that wears number 7 at the saints.. he kicks the ball pretty well.

He loves the club and bleeds blue
Article on the Carlton website from 2020 with the following paragraph...

"De Koning would ultimately be handed the No.12 guernsey at his new club, which was his old club: he supported Carlton as a kid before his childhood hero Nick Riewoldt – whose number he would wear at Ikon Park - swung him to the team from Moorabbin."

😂🥲

I was talking about the players around him.

But if you're bringing up the fact you're paying massive overs go for it.

It's like you want to highlight the only reason someone would want to come to your club is the money. Weird.
No, but it is the only reason that there is a desire to leave. It isn’t about current midfield states.

This is all about the money.

It's only about the money if he goes to St Kilda.

If he stays to him it's not about the money.

It's also about does he want to stay #1 ruck or go into a time share at the position.

So then it is about the money. It isn’t about trading one bang average midfield or another.

He will be the number 1 ruck at worst case by season 2 or 3 at the saints. So right in his absolute prime. He will be the #1 ruck in a likely non Sub era.

Nights like last night would be pretty handy for him. Started like a house on fire and struggled in the second half. Imagine being able to go forward and try impact the game and Marshall can lead the ruck.

I think copium reasons will be created by Carlton supporters until he signs or leaves. But if you were paying I reckon within 10% of the rumoured amount he would be staying.

This entire scenario is only about the money.

There's zero indication he has ever wanted to be a forward in the AFL.

So easy to imagine that's not the selling point you think it is.

He would consider himself in his prime now. He's 25. So he'd be giving up a few more years of his prime to be a #2 ruck.

I said I feel sorry for him because either way he ends up running around with a bog average midfield. That point stands.

How am I saying being a forward is the selling point?

I’m saying playing with another star ruck would have been very useful in a second half like last night and ultimately the ability that he could go forward and just leap at the ball for 15-20 minutes is an entirely different impact on the game.

Leaving him in the ruck when the game has turned, doesn’t swing the tide back. Doesn’t allow the player to remain impactful.

We are probably the last side who has used 2 gun rucks to success. We had a very very good winning record when both Marshall and Ryder played together.

DeKoning isn't a Ryder style player. Ryder could actually lead up and take a grab.

TDK let's a lot of marking opportunities go right through his hands.

He's has to be a solo ruck player or you won't get the best out of him. It will make the over pay even more glaring.

Except Marshall has shown forward craft.

And all you’re pointing out is that no one has been able to coach the bloke to take a mark.

Either way, we want him. Our problem if it comes off.

He wouldn’t be number two ruck though so I’m not even sure why you would suggest that.

Marshall would start forward and give him a well earned rest when needed. He is already starting to look tired in the ruck for Carlton. It’s gonna be a long year for him if he doesn’t get a break in there.

Richmond won the 2019 premiership with 2 Ruckman
Nank & Soldo
I was more referring to 2 equal contributors to a sides success. Which is what we had with Marshall and Ryder.

I suppose he would at least have plenty good youth coming through at one of those clubs so there is at least a bit of hope
You know these arguments are always going to omit any half decent fact about us.

Why would you play the better ruck as your #2?

If he stays the AFL will demand a concussion test done on him daily.

Blues won't move on their offer of 1.1M, Saints have tabled 1.7M and no matter what you hear, won't go above that.

If he stays he would have to go down as the dumbest, most loyal player since Patrick Cripps. He deserves better.
If that is correct, 4.2 mill over 7 years is a lot to leave on the table.

They are both different types of ruckmen who both impact like midfielders post tap.

They can both go forward and have an impact.

It doesn’t have to be a designated #1 or #2 option. It could literally ebb and flow from quarter to quarter or week to week depending on opponent.

There are plenty of useful variations here. The only supporter base concerned with how this plays out… is the Carlton fanbase.
